Okay......so fluff wise I have not been able to find anything that talks of a splinter chapter of the Black Templars nor any Crusade changing there Colour Scheme.....so I'm curious if anyone has seen any variant colour schemes or know of any good ones. To be honest I don't want to paint white on top of black(trying to put together and paint a large BT army in under 2 weeks)it's a pain and I don't feel like doing 5 layers to get a nice solid white. I'd appreciate any ideas or links anyone might has

You flatter me. But really, I'm just an ordinary guy. I put my pants on the same way anybody else does: I put a gun to the head of my manservant and bark Russian military commands at him until the poor blighter either figures it out or watches his brains exit his forehead.

they don't have to be black. just say they are a variant chapter that follows BT rules for all intents and purposes.

Someone did Cerulean Templars a few years ago in a lovely shade of blue (they really were outstanding). I'm sure if you do a Google Search they'll come up.

You do what you like; they're your models, after all.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

Very minor changes could indicate a specific crusade but it would have to be something of overwhelming importance for a chapter to consider changing their livery.  To my knowledge GW has never indicated anything of that nature for the Black Templars.  There is nothing stopping you from creating a DIY chapter that uses their ruleset but a more appealing color scheme.  In fact GW advocates this concept.  Just let your opponents know that the guys in pomegranate and puce armor are using the BT codex.

Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will explain it to you.

I think the Codex Astares allows for changing livery for camoflauge, confusing the enemy, or prevent sgts and capts from getting picked off by snipers. I believe this was in the one oversize BL book on SM livery/markings, and probably it's elsewhere too.

Do whatever you want, they're your minis. I'd think about maybe keeping white shoulder pads, the black cross, and black trim around the shoulder pads. That may make them look more 'black templarly'.

Fluff wise there are no records (that I can recall) that allow for a divergence of colour away from
the traditional Black and white. However as others have rightly pointed out, the 40k universe is a big place and anything could happen for a number of different reasons.

I'd second this. They were a lovely army. If you can't find them in here, I'm pretty sure they were on B & C.

Hope this helps

Fluff wise, Templars have a single base color scheme.

TBH, you can paint them however you like, so long as your opponent knows what rules you're using and that your models are WYSIWYG.

I think someone was inquiring earlier this year here on Dakka about this. They put up a couple representative pics - the armor was sort of a bleached bone and pale flesh color - it looked a lot like sandstone and granite, and made for a fantastic contrasting base for the darker soft armor and highlights. Check the modeling section back in late 2006 or early 2007 for pictures - I'm too lazy to find them.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

I heard that the Black Templars are colorblind and also cannot differentiate between monochromatic hues.

basicallt, black templars are black because they paint their armor so many different colors over the years that their armor has finally attained a Black hue, through no direct intent.

Theres your fluff rationalization for painting them colors that would make slaanesh go blind.

If you are having trouble getting white, do what i did when i did templars - build the minis without shoulder pads and spray the pad sprue white.
then pick out the edging and apply any logos and stick em on!

all i would do in your case is paint them what ever coulor you like but keep the chapter simbol similar and make up your own fluff. and if any one has a problem with that then there not worth playing

I agree with everyone else. They are YOUR models paint them how you feel. I run a pure grey knight army yet all my models are black not grey, silver, or anything else that has anything to do with grey. Now everyone mistakes them for black templars all the time which is pretty ironic cause when i was picking what army to play it was between black templars and grey knights.
And cheers to you piezzz they are not worth playing

This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!

The black templars themselves are an offshoot chapter of the imperial fists, so are there bretheren the crimson fists. I could see using the same rules set for all 3 chapters, same geneseed anyway. I never have a problem with wacky color schemes, just dont ask me to play with wacky house rules.

I say as long as the Macharian cross is displayed somewhere on the model it's still a BT. Although personally I love the Black and White color scheme.

You could always do another crusade chapter or even a crusade of multiple chapters and use the BT rules.
