Does anybody know the exact numbers of support vehicles and Librarians per standard company? The codex only says dreadnaughts and rhinos to name a few. But not the exact number of each different vehicle. Thanks for any information on this matter. Thanks

Even in the straight codex chapters the only common factor seems to be that every squad (except Assault marines with jump packs) have a Rhino transport. Everything else is spread around depending on combat status, casualties and deployment. Each battle company fields 20-25 bikes, 1-4 dreadnaughts, Same fo preds, landspeeders etc. Theres a great guide towards the back of the Space Marine 3rd Ed codex (Ultramarines)

As for the Librarians, they're linked with Chapter command and are deployed where needed, so dont usually have a company designation. But again you can do pretty much whatever you want and no-one would say your wrong. Theres endless variations you can make with 100 guys who look exactly the same

I just remembered that terminators use land raidrs. Does that mean that every terminator squad has a land raider?

No.

Think of each chapter having X number of LR's.

These are then assigned to individual units (including first company) as per the situation requires.

Hmm, I agree that each chapter would have X number of LRs in service, but according to the Dark Angels for example, becuase of the machine spirit (experience) certain LR would be designated for the Death Wing only, and would be painted white to show its affiliation! Same as Dreadnoughts!

Now, whether all chapters do this, I don't know....but certainly, if you were fielding a Dark Angels army you would have to have company specific (as far as Terminator or First Company were concerned) vehicles availible! So you wouldn't expect a DW squad to be travelling in a green Land Raider!

Typically, Land Raiders are assigned to the 1st company or assigned to the Armoury. If they are assigned for the 1st Co, they are for use transporting Termie Squads. The LR's in the Armoury are available at the request of the Company Commanders.

TekkSama you mentioned a set number of preds being attached to each company - i seem to remember the article on preds in WD mentioned that each chapter has X anounts, and if a company commander wishes to have predators as part of an operation, he has to justify thier presence to the master of the forge, who will 'loan' the commander the required hardware; and that a commander "is loathe to return a vehicle to the armoury in any less a condition as it was issued to him"
