Hey all.. just looking for a little feedback on a 1500 point sisters list I have been running. I have actually had a fair amount of success with it in the few games I've played, but I am chalking that up mainly to luck and favorable match-ups. I'm looking to make some improvements, but not seeing a whole lot of options for a small mechanized sisters list beyond what I've come up with. Any comments appreciated.

HQ

Cannoness 132
w/ Blessed Weapon & BP, Jump Pack, Cloak of St. Aspira, Mantle of Ophelia, Frags

Troops

10 x Battle Sisters 212
VSS w/ BP & PW
2 x Meltas
Rhino w/ EA & Smoke

10 x Battle Sisters 240
VSS w/ PW & Brazier
Flamer, Heavy Flamer, Imagifier
Rhino w/ EA & Smoke

Fast

10 x Dominion Squad 244
VSS w/ BP & PW
4 x Meltas
Rhino w/ EA & Smoke

7 x Seraphim 198
VSS w/ PW & Brazier
2 x Flamers

Heavy

10 x Retributor Squad 204
VSS; Imagifier; 4 x Heavy Bolters

Exorcist 135

Exorcist 135

I realize one obvious option might be to drop the HBs for a 3rd exorcist and flesh out the Seraphim squad more, but a 3rd exorcist just isn't in the cards right now.. plus I like having more models on the table.

Drop the Dominions and get another Sisters Rhino squad. Meltas or the Flamebake are fine choices.

Brazier on the flamebake VSS is pointless as you can't fire x3 out of the Rhino...just toss it.

The Seraphim are ok, but I'd lose the Brazier and add inferno pistols instead of flamers.

Lose the imagifer on the rets, just let them get shot at--or better yet, make sisters out of the lot, put them in a Rhino, and have yourself another Exorcist and a more 'standard' Sister Mech army with 2 melta, 2 flamebakes, and 3 exorcists plus 1 seraphim and the 'I annoy' Canonness.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the tips. Couple of questions about your suggestions:

So.. what's wrong with having 4 meltas in a squad then?

How effective do you find shooting flamers out of a Rhino, given that you can only move 6" and shoot, coupled with the short range of the template?

Thanks.

Dominions cost too much.

You are BS4. Rely on it to hit things. If Marines can do it with 1 Meltagun, surely you can do it with 2 meltaguns.

Who said you can only move 6" and shoot? You can move 12" and shoot the flamers just fine. It's the *Rhino* which cannot shoot. Troops inside can!

I'm sorry to say this, but I basically have to agree with Stelek's recommendations. Sorry because it basically amounts to replacing everything cookie-cutter mech Sister elements, but that's just the way it is.

Four (overpriced!) melta guns is just excessive, and the Rhino they're in is no tougher than all the other Rhinos in the list. If you want more than one melta in a squad and don't want to just add another squad of BSS, min-sized Celestians are an efficient alternative.

And Imagifers just suck.

Indeed, cookie-cutter is sad...but Andy Hoare forced us into 10 man basic girl squads. Hmmm that doesn't sound right. lol

Personally I avoid Celestians because they give no faith back unless they are killed to a woman. Man that doesn't sound right either! lol

Eh, I've seldom had problems getting them wiped out when I needed it. With such a small squad, it's the rare assault unit that won't kill them all (if you don't use SotM), and if they're in another squad's Book radius they'll probably hold to get wiped out in the next round anyway.

Indeed. Do I want to just kill 1 fig (VSS) to get that faith point?

Nevermind that 'holding' when you want to gun down said assault squad when it's convenient for you anyway?

With mech Sisters, I don't find being unable to shoot assaulters to be that much of a liability. If the assaulted squad survives the combat by some (unhappy) miracle, fine, I'm happy to throw one of my two Canonesses into the fray and tie up that unit in return (and take it down, given time and if Faith allows). There are doubtless other things to shoot at.

And I really do have to emphasise the unlikeliness of the Celestians holding in the first place. What assault unit can't kill 5 T3 models, power armour or no?

Well, my problem isn't if someone kills them (that's fine) it's when there's only 1 left and they run away.

I know when I see Celestians on the table, I 'pull my punch' with shooting and assault to try and get them to run off.

That's a danger, no doubt about it. No argument will explain that away. All told, though, I find it doesn't happen all that frequently, and the points savings are enough for me to risk losing that one Faith on occasion. YMMV; my point is just that the downside isn't as huge as you seem to find it, certainly not to the level of making the squad an instant no.

Right, it isn't one. I find it hard to take Celestians when they stink compared to the old version...and BSS aren't much more and are IMHO superior performers. Soon as Celestians get BP and CCW, I'm down!

Tell me about it. Holy Hatred + no option for BP/CCW = huge waste of potential. I just hope GW's solution for it in the new dex (if it ever comes) won't be "take away Holy Hatred". . . .

Oh, and back on topic, I forgot to respond to this earlier:

As Stelek said, there's no problem shooting out of a transport that moved 12". In addition, I'd like to add that it can often be a good idea to disembark to flame. This gives you >2" of extra range and the extra bolter shots, plus, more importantly, there's the fact that outside of a Rhino is frequently safer than inside, at least when you're in power armour. Better to be assaulted than entangled.

I stand corrected!!

But how much shooting do you really do from inside a rhino, especially at that range? Aren't you just setting yourself up to get the rhino popped and have your sisters inside take extra wounds and then miss a turn? I think I'd rather disembark and get an extra 15 bolter shots to complement the flamers. Sure, more likely to get assaulted.. but thems what faith points are for.

It depends really. If you make it into position where you can flamebake someone, they might not be able to threaten your Rhinos.
