Rivits the most boring part of a scratch built model!

Anybody know of an easy way to make rivits?
Just slicing bits of 1/2mm rod is time consuming, would love to hear how other people make them!

There's a model raqilroad company that sells some great looking tiny nut&tip-of-bolt pieces. I ordered a bunch from them (Grantz? I think) a couple of years ago. They're more detailed than just a plasticard blip.

The other thing that I see recommended a lot is using a leather punch on a sheet of plasticard.

I tried cutting a thin plastic rod into 1000 little rivets and it was so tedious I just couldn't stand it anymore .. in the end what I ended up doing for my baneblade dozer blade was I just took white glue and put a little dot on the model, after it dried, I went over each rivet again just to get some extra height. I didn't paint it yet but it looks like it will look just fine once it's drybrushed, and it was quick & easy to do. Not perfect of course but a great easy way to get decent looking rivets

here's a pic of the dozer blade thingy I was building..

I collect spare bitz with rivets on them - chimera sides and Cities of Death terrain are favourites - then shave them off with a very sharp scalpel. They look far more consistent than hand-made ones, which is important for _most_ models.

At just about any crafts store you can find hole pumches of various sizes. Apply to thin plasti card and ...voila! Instant rivets by the bucket load.
