After talking with Yak and looking over the new rules. Here is a proposal for an all assault nid army.

Warrior
Bio Plasma
Scything Talons
Rending Claws
Extended Carapace
Leaping
Adrenal Glands (I)
Adrenal Glands (WS)
Toxin Sacs
Flesh Hooks
48

Total Per Brood of 4 192

5 warrior broods as above. 960

10 Gene Stealers w Carpace+ Feeders 210

10 Gene Stealers w Carpace+ Feeders 210

20 Gauntsw Spine Fist 100

22 Gaunts w Spine Fist 110

22 Gaunts w Spine Fist 110

1700

The Gaunts screen the warriors and stealers. In this case I approve the stealers having carapace as there are so few of them. Also
carpace on a warrior is a no brainer for relative cost.

The warriors get into hth first with leaping and use flesh hooks to get the first attack.
The stealers come in one turn late and then grant the warriors and them selfs the new improved preferred enemy ability.

Given the nerfed glancing rule I think sniper fex's are much less useful. Given the new run rule and screening rule warriors now rock.
The only reason for the stealers instead of more warriors is the new improved, and very cheap for stealers, preferred enemy rule.

This is a turn 3 not a turn 2 assault army but the gaunts will provide fantastic meat shields and this army rolls with 120 wounds.

To get turn 2 assault you need scuttling which costs an arm and a leg for the gaunts increasing the price almost 50% per model.

Let me know what you think.

Its a funny thing to say but Guard will trump this list without any problem. With no anti vehicle you have major issues with a mech Guard army that can drop 3 pie plates a turn. Also with the new targeting rules you should be prepared to see a lot more blasts on the table than before. There will be a large increase in the number of 8 man missile teams whirlwinds, and the like. Since you no longer need to center a template over a model armies will have a much easier time picking larger groups of monsters to kill. With close to 100 bodies on the table I would think that most template weapons won't miss.

You need some Anti tank / Anti Armor in that list for it to be viable.

Hmmm you may be right...

Spreading out will help. The missile teams don't bother me, any kind of spreading will keep them to 1 per hit and my warriors are immune to instant death.

If the enemy can kill 120 wounds in 2-3 turn then more power to them. If I get 1/2 my warriors and stealers in and every single guant dies I think I can still kill off an enemy guard army with this one.

Just remember that there are no such things as partials hits with template/blast weapons any more. Frag missiles are going to be all the rage against horde list. Hell I am considering having 2 squads of them and 2 heavy bolter squads in my list because Horde is what is going to be in in the new eddition.

No matter what I think you can't come to the fight without some ranged AT firepower (aka Gunfexes) and I still think its crazy not to take a Winged Tyrant just cause its one of the best units in the game.

If you're trying to save some points taking a 'stripped down' winged Tyrant (with just +1BS, x2TL Devourers, wings) is still pretty much all-around a better choice than any other unit(s) you can take in the codex for the same points.

Besides that, I'm still not sold on taking *that* many Warriors. I still think stealers are a much better buy if you're going to go down the road of an assault heavy army.

Agreed on the wing dakka rant, it is the best unit in the nid codex and perhapes the best unit in the game. This is more a concept list than a refined tourney killer. The warriors have flesh hooks and the same the point for point killy ness of carapace + scut + tenril stealers. (If they can benifit from nearby tenril stealers.)

As far as ranged AT, I cant see what to use now that glance is so nerfed. Perhapes zoans....

Stealers are also scoring units, those Warriors aren't in 5th.

Sorry if I'm not quite getting this. How will spinegaunts be able to block LoS to warriors when warriors are bigger than the gaunts? I know in 5th, all units block LoS, but surely not in 'hard magic cylinder' fashion.

As far as the list goes, I'm gunna have to go with the crowd. Drop halve the warriors and a squad a gaunts, for some ranged AT and more stealers. Maybe a dakka tyant too, but that seems to push the theme too far in a non-mandatory way (mandatory being range AT).

Toxin sacs seem like kind of a waste on the warriors too. You've got 5 WS5 rending attacks anyway, and they're already very expensive. They have enough killing power without toxin sacs.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism." -Hermann Goering (high ranking Nazi)

According to the leaked new rules a model is considered out of los if it is in any way obscured by another units models (friend of foe). So any coverage of any sort by a screening unit between the shooter and the target blocks los. It also states that the gaps between a blocking unit can not be exploited to shoot at a unit behind.

Toxin sacs make sense to me as a percentage investment. You're already paying 45pts for the model 3pts more (about 6% more) to increase killyness a few more percent makes sense.
