This list is one a longtime friend runs. My old Emperor's Children list was like 0-4 against it. Poor guys never could kill that Ven dread.

First time he faced my TMC list, he didn't switch vows to the S5 vow and I beat him.

Second time, he did and it was a serious pita every time we played after that. Still is to this day.

Also the only marine army my Eldar have had a hard time with.

Here's the secret: Never ever never kill marines in his crusader squads until everything else is dead dead dead. Which ain't easy, especially if you lose first turn...

Indeed, its a very tough list.
You are right about taking on the Crusader squads. A mobile army should be able to destroy one Crusader squad at a time, and then move on to the next one.

My friend Andy tried such a list, 1500 pts, by using Drop Pods. I ran my regular EC army, with two Rhino squads with Noise Marines (AC with doom siren), 2 small Termie squads, 2x2 Oblits, 1 Pred, 1 Dread, and 1 Sorcerer with lash on bike. I totally annihilated his force, thanks to the doom sirens.

Sadly if you start shooting one, and roll poorly (or he rolls well); suddenly marines are in your face and it's not fun.

I did try a trick, getting his marines to come after my Falcons after shooting a unit each and getting in their way. He boxcar'd both with powerfists in one turn. I coulda cried. lol he did it again a game later. I went back to my oddsmaker but he said someone like that would get me killed in Vegas.

I had like 5 EC squads, raptors (Possessed with flight), termies, and 2 mutated hull lascannon preds. That stupid ven dread would always kill 'em. lol But that was the *old* Codex, not the new one. Haven't had a chance to play him much, he got married and became a babysitter for a gaggle. lol

Zeal has been toned down a lot in the new codex. Assault Marines don't get it any more, and their units can actually run away now (passing Ld gives you D6" consolidation, failing Ld makes the squad fall back as normal).

Still, looks nasty. I've never been bold enough to try a Templar list without either Vindicators or Terminators. Or both.
