Im loving the new ork codex, but the only problem i have encountered is.... There is so much to choose from, and not enough points in 1850 to have everything. So i made a couple lists and was wondering if i could get opinions. Some (most) of the entries are the same. Both lists add up to 1850 so i wont include point costs at the moment (ill tell you if there are points left over or not)

List #1

HQ

Warboss: Bike, cybork body, attack squig, Power Klaw

Troops

5 ork nobz: bikes, 2 power klaws, 2 uge choppas, 1 painboy
20 ork boyz: Nob, Power Klaw, sluggas and choppas
20 ork boyz: Nob, Power Klaw, sluggas and choppas
30 ork boyz: Nob, power Klaw, shootas, 3 big shoots
30 ork boyz: Nob, power Klaw, shootas, 3 big shoots

Fast Attack

20 storm boyz: nob, Power Klaw
20 storm boyz: nob, Power Klaw

This list gives me 55 points left over which i want to use for a big mek with a KFF. ill cut out some things if i need to to get it. the other option would to simply take 9 more boyz.

List #2

HQ

Warboss: Bike, cybork body, attack squig, Power Klaw

Troops

5 ork nobz: bikes, 2 power klaws, 2 uge choppas, 1 painboy
20 ork boyz: Nob, Power Klaw, shootas, 2 big shootas
20 ork boyz: Nob, Power Klaw, shootas, 2 big shootas

Fast Attack

20 storm boyz: nob, Power Klaw
20 storm boyz: nob, Power Klaw

Elites:

15 lootas
15 lootas

So those are the two lists. Ill take suggestions on anyhting EXCEPT the warboss and his nobz. Thats somthing i want to play test for myself since ive heard way too many rumors on how good the unit is and how bad the unit is, so id like to have my own opinion. Id like to know however if the lootas suport fire is really necesary for 450 points, or if 2 30 man mobs with tricked out guns and nobz is better for only ten points more. I personally slightly favour the more boyz approach because its been proven that a green tide DOES strike fear into the hearts of an opponent.

If Rampage Jackson was in warhammer, he would be an ork.

.................................... Searching for Iscandar

List 1 sees tanks, and loses.

List 2 sees tanks, and doesn't lose.

Why you are bringing big shootas instead of rokkits is beyond me, but you should change that up.

They both look dead killy to me. I personally like the first list because I'm a fan of running large squads of Ork boyz. The only thing that concerns me about that one is that there isn't a lot of tank-killing potential (unless you use the Nobz and Warboss for that). The second list looks good too. The Lootaz are good, but there aren't enough boyz there for my liking. I too am 'testing the waters' with a Nob squad of my own. Please post again after a few test games; I'd like to compare your results and mine.

Suggestions
-drop the Nob bikes because those are a LOAD of points.
-Change the Slugga boyz to Shoota boyz
-Add rokkits
-Mek with Kustom force field
-Add a unit of 10 Lootas for light anti tank

Although I say try the unit of Nob bikes they are quick enough to smash into people and the toughness 5 combined with feel no pain and a normal 4+ save would be decent.

The only thing that would stop them is powerfists and MCs, that or if your opponent decides to use his lascannons against them since you dont have any tanks.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

I'd be tempted to drop 1 squad of Lootas and replace them with another unit of boyz. Although tbh 30 lootas firing upto 3 shots each will be hillaraious to watch, and probably cause your opponent to cry

The other issue is that you'll need 4 boxes of lootas to make 15. Thats fairly expensive in the pocket.

minor mistake spotted, you cant take power klaws in a shooter unit because you have to replace the chopers and slugers from the entire mob to shoters so the nob cant replace his chopper for a power klaw if he hasnt got one.
as far as my opinion goes similar to most you need some rokkits and a fair few of them

What was the YMTC on that?

I like the top list just for the freakishy large number of models. One thing I would like to suggest is grabbing a second HQ. Everyone raves about a BigMek with KKF but I prefer to run a second BikerBoss or a BigMek with SAG. Also throwing in the MadDoc with a mob of 30 sluggas is amazing.

Thats not true, its been cleared up that shoota boyz can have a power klaw nob

List one is only good for the look on your opponents face when you set up that many models heh heh

List two has possibilities... I would drop all the big shootas for rokkits, switch the uge choppas for klaws

2 units of Lootas is a great idea

you are close to a death skull theme... if you drop a storm boyz (I know that's hard!)
you could add a looted wagon and get your boyz closer to 30

once you get over the nobs on bikes, drop them instead and keep the storm boyz
add the looted wagon, get the boyz to 30 and add a mek

a Mek with KFF for the lootas and looted wagon will add a lot for their durability...

I found my opponents focusing as much as possible on my huge units of boys (without much success)

be sure to post how your army does... I've heard a lot about how cool storm boyz will work, but haven't seen the proof for actual effectiveness

So i did test both of these lists with a few proxies (since i was so anxious.) List one did very good in the second game, after i swapped out the big shootas (you guys were right there.) Storm boyz basically were the star players here. There were still 28 of them left (only twelve losses) when they hit the space marines, and since there were still so many, the nobz stuck aorund and kicked some major arse. Nobz bike squad worked pretty well here. the 4+ comver kept them safe, and basically i kinda kept them behind the boyz for a bit more safty, then in turn three, charged them into a command squad. lost one nob in that exchange, and the command squad was dessimated when the power klaws hit home. Second list did do pretty well. i made my opponents scouts cry, dropped 14 out of 20 scouts in one turn. The lootas were only average on marines because of there armour. The lootas i found NEED to be in deep cover, or they will get nailed with gun fire, and they are fire magnets. Storm boyz did well again, but lost a few more since my opponent was expecting them. Nobz kinda pissed me off a little because he managed to get them tied up with regular marines causing them to be stuck in combats with people i dont care about instead of tearing holes in tanks and eating HQ's. I played one more game with list two against Tau and LOOTAS ARE AMAZING!!! I stuck them in deep cover turn one. Turn two i unleashed hot lead/plasma/what ever deffguns shoot on the fire warriors and they dropped in large numbers thanks to the Deffguns AP 4 and Fire warrior toughness of 3. Sotrmboyz kinda got a bit shot up on this game, but that was alright because he focused so much on the stormboyz that the rest of my boyz hit home almost full strength, and my warboss on a bike basically finished off wat ever the lootas didnt shoot already. So at the moment i think im gona buy lootas and switch out different things for different opponents. Also lootas are pretty easy to convert, so i should have 30 up and running pretty quick. Fell free to leave more suggestions. O and i did try the mek with a KFF. worked alright, but against concentrated shooting, 5+ cover doesnt cut it form what i found. Just my opinion on that matter. Against light to medium shooting its great though. My next challenge is to find out how to use flash gitz effectivly because ive got guys in my sotre who use them pretty well.

If Rampage Jackson was in warhammer, he would be an ork.

Hmm, I'll definitely be taking your experiences into account when I begin expanding my current Ork army. A tip though for when you buy your lootas: the box comes with enough bitz to make 4 lootaz OR 4 burnaz and a Mek. If you buy a box of boyz with your lootas/burnas you can make everything in your loota/burna box and have enough leftover boyz bitz for an extra nob and rokkit launcha or big shoota. The loota/burna and boyz torsos and legs are exactly the same.
