Does anyone know anything about this mysterious race (I.E. morphology, origin, location now, etc) other than the fact that they enslaved most sentinet beings, causing the C'tan to hibernate? I have been readin up on it via wiki all day and this race is quite vaque, anyone help me out?

There isn't much, aside from their entry in the GW-UK's beastarium and the references in the Necron Codex.

Are they the Slann? It sounds like something they would do if they couldn't figure any other way to save sentient life from the c'tan. Or it could be forerunners of the tyranids.

The enslavers were not a race as such they are a type of deamon that use the host body like a suit and posses psykers then they can open portals, they started to kill off the warp races that the old ones created to fight the necrons and therefore reduced the food of the ctan so they went and hid.
The details as such are in the necron dex p25/26 (implied deamons)
Also if i remember right its in the first chapter approved book when the necrons were still in trial mode at the start of the 90s

I do not thonk they are demons. But they can travell throgh the warp more freely than other races. There was a article way back about them they got nasty stats and started dominating 1 army which they where HQ and later they could gain opponent units via a dice pool. Maybe someone remembers the WD in which they were. They looked like a combination of a sporemine and a spider.

Why does everyone always suggest that someone is the Slann? Just becuase the Slann are fat toad Psykers trapped on a feral world in the 40K Universe doesn't mean that you Warhammer Fantasy Fluff Nuts are right in saying that they are the almighty powers that be. Also, on topic, I think that the Enslavers are the Zerg (I mean they look like overlords to me!)

The Enslavers are described in detail in Rogue Trader. They live in the warp, but they appear to be unrelated to the Chaos gods, daemons, and their ilk. They possess psykers and cause them to turn into portals. Literally, the psyker rapidly mutates into a big torus of living tissue, the center of which leads to the warp. Enslavers then pour through the portal and create mayhem. They have powerful mind control powers.

Physically, they sort of resemble a beholder from D&D: round body, floats, tentacles, eye stalks.

@Zargyboy: I actually meant Old Ones. I had never heard of Enslavers before and I thought that the Old Ones seemed a plausible choice. I don't play WHFB so shut it Zerg fluff nut

Hehe, no I just remeber it mentioned in another thread and thought that they (the Slann) were getting more credit than they were due. The Old Ones is a possiblity but I though they were not a widely encountered race (the enslavers), leading me to believe that they are either a "young" race or hidden en-masse in the shadows.

Slann are primitive and they are material beings so you're right in saying they couldn't be enslavers. My idea was, because the old ones were losing power and they're so warp powerful, then maybe they changed their form to combat the C'tan. It would explain why they don't (seem to) exist anymore, but I guess I was wrong.

When you go back to Rogue Trader and 2nd edition the Slaan were the old ones. They started distancing the two more recently, now they seem to say that the slaan were the old one's trusted servants, kind of how the lizardmen do the slaan's heavy lifting these days, at least in WFB.

It's heavily implied in the necron codex and some other places (don't ask me which, I've read a lot of fluff and it's all mixing together) that eldar, orks, and jokearo were created by the old ones specifically to fill the galaxy with life forms that would give the c'tan a hard time. They're all very psychic races and the c'tan are terrified of the warp. In the xenology book, I think, it's implied that the eldar have done the same thing with Tau, making a race with very little psychic potential to combat chaos.

EDIT: Just read xenology all the way through, they imply that the humanoid races in the galaxy were the spawn of the old ones and that the old ones were the gods of the eldar, the hrud, and god knows who else.

Aren't all creatures from the warp essentially daemons? You might not be a chaos daemon, but if you live in the warp you're a daemon. Similar to how eldar wraiths and avatars are considered daemons for the purposes of ordo malleus wargear.

orks are NOT a very psychic race, in fact they dont commune with the warp in any way! the only kind of magic they field is the power of the waaagh!

Orks are actually the most psychic race there is. Not only are there wierdboyz who channel the psychic energy that every boy lets off, every single one of them is a psycher. Read the back of the old ork dex, it'll go to mention that most ork weapons work simply because the ork truely believes that it should work, and in the hands of anyone other than an ork, it won't work. Same goes for red paint.... orks truely believe that red vehichles go faster, and thus, they do. Orks are also able to control and shape their body size based on how they see themselves in a society. If an ork truely believes that he is the biggest and the baddest ork around.... soon enough he will be.

Angron- crushing the theme and fluff of armies one horde at a time.
