I was asked how I'd run Abaddon.

Well, this is how I'd run Abaddon in a Chaos Army.

--------------------------------------------------------------

In my view, you need to run a army shooty enough you can handle almost any army types--and encourage enemies to charge you.

Against shooty armies, shoot them and deep strike Abaddon.

The EC can handle most horde armies, and the Oblits can handle tanks/MCs.

Against everyone you pretty much move into SB range and start firing. Sooner or later, the 4 missile blasts, 9 lascannons/plasma cannons, and 60 (stationary) or 40 (moving) bolter shots will thin the enemy out fairly well.

Abaddon can hang with any EC squad, and he's such a nasty CC unit most enemies will steer clear of him if they can so keep your army centralized and park him in the middle of it so he can't be avoided. There's very little he won't kill to a man if you don't roll a 1 for his demon weapon.

sounds good, but in practice it may not work so well. blow away the noise marines quickly and the oblit will be pretty lonely on the field. but then again not much can take out 32 marines rather quickly without being in danger from the oblits, so the army might work rather well
