Got my order in from Battlewagon Bitz this week (Woooo TheWarStore!!) so I've been able to kick out a few more of these guys. Nothing particularly special about the rank and file. Didn't really mess with more than just "normal" poses. However, I also did my second of three Justicars so I can technically field a legal army of two Troop and an HQ. The first one was holding an incense censer, while this guy's got a Crow as his signature item. And he of course has the obligatory raised arm and screaming expression. I should be securing my extra hooded heads this weekend though, then I'll feel confident in drilling out their faces, so you won't be able to tell anymore, but I've got the pictures as proof that he's a true blue marine who rigorously follows the Codex: Cool Marine Poses.

Oh, if you missed it the first time around, the first thread on these guys is here;

Nice.

A bit of advice. I recently bought and started modeling some Dark Angels with the upgrade pack. It's not too hard to take a saw (or x-acto) to cut a robed torso just below the rope. Then (ta-daaaa), you can twist the torso a bit, and open up the option of better poses. As is, I love the justicar... but it looks a lot like GW's models from the early to mid 90's. That's to say, very 2d.

I'd say do the cut, twist the justicar torso just a smidge to his left, (CCW if looking down on the model) and the model pose conveys a "This way, Lads!!!" type of feel.

Just a suggestion.

I've wondered about trying that. I rather like how the guy here turned out and don't want to try and disassemble him, but I can see where my first Justicar could benefit from a waste twist. I may have to experiment with that when I get the next box of Dark Angles.
