This is the 500pt force I am running in a local escalation league. Finally finished up the army and will be expanding to 750pts in 2 weeks with more tree-kin and dryads then eventually a treeman at 1000pts.

Entire army (Branchwraith, 2x 10 Dryads, 3x Tree-Kin):

Branchwraith and Dryads:

Originally I was going to do this army a different way and use more blending, but time was getting short and I have another more pressing project (getting a daemon legion ready for 2250 tournament in July...*sigh* ). So, good ol' drybrushing! Models are primed black then basecoated Vallejo Dark Grey; followed by a medium drybrush of Reaper Ghoul Flesh. I then use a thinned black/brown wash on the entire model (Future-wash/Wonderwash). Once dry I drybrush twice with Ghoul Flesh again and finally a light drybrush of Reaper Moldy Skin. All of this is done with a GW Tank Brush so takes almost no time at all.

The leaves are a mix of Reaper Leaf Green, Pale Green and Moth Green for a nice spring palette. Reaper Aged Bone and Polished bone for the skulls and various random green/brown colors for the sprites and whatnot. Bases are Scorched Brown drybrushed and edged with GW Foundation Khemri Brown. Standard GW static grass and then a ton of Testers Dull Coat to kill the shine from all the washes.

The branchwraith has a bit more time invested. Her lighter bark is Reaper Ghoul Flesh and Polished Bone. Straight Polished Bone was painted in a streaked pattern to make it look more wooden. That effect is a bit more subtle than I wanted so is washed out in this pic.

Very nice treekin especially, love the glow on their eyes. Played many games with them yet? Cause that's gonna be mean at 500

Thanks! Its actually my first attempt at painted glow. The first one I did came out best, the other 2 came out less blended but from the distance in the pic look the same. Ah well, its finished and thats what counts.

I have played 4 games so far at 500pts. Our league has restrictions at this level as well. They are 1+ Core, 0-1 Special, 0 Rare, max of one level of magic and one bound item. No Terror (models with Terror cause Fear instead). I have won all of them thus far however one game was against a very new player, one against an all-goblin force and the other 2 were experienced dark elf and high elf players.

The list is just as I listed: Branchwraith (no sprites/magic), 2x 10 Dryads (no champion) and 3x Treekin (no champion).

The Branchwraith reminds me a lot of the underground realm in del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth. Very cool.

How are the Treekin working out for you? I'm tempted to add some to my WE army, but haven't been able to find much feed back on them.

Nice looking force.

My one critique (take it or leave it! ^_^) is the base rims would look better using the darker color instead of the highlight. More personal preference than anything.

Overall though, they are a solid tabletop force and another example of a game I really wish I knew some gamers around to play it.

I tried black, scorched brown and the current brown and the current IMHO looked best. I know its somewhat odd.

I'll take your word on it then ^_^. They're a great force. Now...if you people would just stop posting this fad 'fantasy' thing...you might keep me from buying an army!!!

Is the Reaper Ghoul flesh just a green-grey? It looks good.

Wow, I'd love to play my Skaven against that army.. If I could keep them from peeing their pants and running off the table, it would prove a very good match.

Kind of, its an odd color. Its more of a very desaturated dark green. The grey look is a combination of the grey undercoat showing through and the black/brown wash after matte sealer.

Very nice! Kind of makes me want to prod my sister to finish her WE force and run the same as you for starting out with small battle sizes. What would be a balanced Bretonnian list to face against your army?
