Hello all, I appreciate you taking your time in looking here. I'm just getting back into 40k after a long long break from it. Looking to play Tau a bit, and had some questions over the codex which I just quiet frankly have no idea about! Hopefully I remember them all.

1.) Markerlights and Seeker Missiles. Let's say I have a Firewarrior squad, and it's leader the Shas'ui uses his markerlight to light up a unit. Now, with that, how does it activate the Seeker Missile? Does he get to use it from a vehicle that has LOS on the unit right then? Or do I wait till the vehicles shooting phase to let it fly? From all the text about the vehicles not controling the missiles but the markerlight, it leads me to think the guy does, but I'm just not certain.

2.) Commander HQs. I'm assuming I HAVE to have a Commander? (When not using a special character.) I can't just have an Ethereal lead the army?

3.) Marker Drones. Can't move and use the Markerlight I'm assuming? (Just want to be sure, I'm pretty sure they can not.)

4.) Gun Drones on vehicles. When they disembark, they have to do this at the same time, is this just taking about the two per vehicle? Do they just form up little two drone squads?

5.) Stealth field generator. Where are the rules for this? Is it the night fight-like ability they used to have? And if so, do spotlights from vehicles counteract it. And can Markerlight Tokens counteract this if this is the case.

Well, that's mainly it, I've never played Tau, so most likely have some questions as to the playing of them as well, but that can wait for later. Looking to get back intot he game, if nothing else to play with the great models again.

Thanks a lot and take care!

1) When a markerlight hits a target, you put a counter by that unit. You can then 'use up' a markerlight counter to do a number of things, one of those being to call-in a seeker missile. This can be done any time during the shooting phase the markerlight hit.

This has nothing to do with the vehicle carrying the seeker missile firing the rest of its weapons and the seeker missile itself does not require line of sight to the target.

2) Yep, Commanders are '1+' meaning you have to take at least one.

3) Correct. Markerlights are heavy weapons and drones do not have the ability to move and fire a heavy weapon.

4) All Gun Drones from a vehicle or squadron form a unit together when they disembark and they all must disembark at the same time.

5) It is very similar to the Night Fighting rules but it is its own beast. Therefore, markerlights do not allow you to ignore Stealth Field Generators like they do the Night Fighting rules.

4) Except when shot out by forced disembarkation versus 1 member of a squadron and not any other. This ones a little hazy, sadly. Thankfully, drones are so close to useless it really doesn't matter.
