Malf, I have to say, I think your painting is improving!
Or your photography. Hard to tell from here. Regardless, it looks good! (and I'm jealous you're done with your vows already!).

As a fellow I-refuse-to-paint-my-PP-minis-the-suggested-red spirit, I like that colour scheme on the Skorne. I'm getting a really strong Reman (from Star Trek Nemesis.. yes, there was a 10th Star Trek film) vibe off them:

@VermGho5t: Nemesis is not that good. It's basically Wrath of Khan: The Next Generation with goofy magic elf-demon Romulans and a dune buggy sequence. The space battle is good, though.
@ZamboniKnight: Yes, JJ AbramsTrek will be #11.
@malfred: Picture fixed (my bad), and the robes look indigo-y purple on my crummy LCD. Is that converted Leviathan representing a Skorne something? Do you plan on doing any attack elephants? Those guys are so cool-looking.

No, Malfred has a small Cryx force for WM- I should know, he used them to try and seduce me into playing yet another miniatures system.

that movie is crap. I remember counting no less than seven or eight major gaping plot inconsistencies. Also the worst acting in the series from both Commander Data and the Captain.
VERY disapointing.
I do remember the space battles were OK. Although I think I considered their ships to be an inconsistency for some reason.
also, the painting looks more blue to me. I like the alternate scheme on the AG.

As a general rule you should be wary of any movie were a characters name is a pun.
I finsihed assembling and greenstuffing my Saurus Cow Riders I need one more unit but I really hate the Muppet show Cold Ones.

I took the other shot to show that I didn't want to use the
spider legs to hold up the minis. It was giving me too hard
a time. So I glued them square and built up the base and
sat it on top of the base .

No, I've immunized myself from any more minis systems by getting back into BattleTech, and purchasing Renegade Legion: Centurion.

I love your Sea Dogs - very colourful and characterful. The PP super-bendy weapons shafts (like on the Mule) are a real pain, though yours is much straighter than some I've seen - do you have it resting against the base?
Also, what do you use for sealer/varnish? Brush? Spray?

Totally missed your post the first time.
Yeah, I took one good look at the Mule's weapon and said, "I hope that
thing can rest on the base."
I had to reglue it because I dropped it on its head on concrete, but for
the most part it seems stable.
I use shiny sealer. Polycrylic minwax furniture sealer with a Satin finish. I
started using shiney sealer the day I couldn't remember if the minis on my
table were wip or sealed complete.

I've never been a fan of the shiny sealer personally, gives too much of a 'toy' appearance to me. I've stuck with matt varnish spray for most of my work (though sometimes it gives a shiny appearance depending on the weather, which means I have to varnish twice >.& gt . I've always used the rim of my minis to indicate finished or not (painted finished, not it's not ^_^).
How does the Game Color line from Vallejo hold up? I've got a single color from the range and I wasn't impressed so far. Though the Model Color is amazing from my experiences. Might just be the color I purchased (Dwarf Skin).
How did you get that subtle color variation on your building set? It's very nicely done so far.

In my experience you lose some of the subtlety in your colour blends using shiny sealer. I've taken to airbrushing 1:1 Testor's Dulcote to lacquer thinner for my varnish, which I'm happier with though I'm told it's less durable. No problems so far though. Of course, if you can drop a Mule head-first onto concrete without chipping the paint... that's some tough sealer.
OT, congrats on the "ARTICLE MOD" designation, malf! Your efforts are appreciated, and now recognized.

I may have to since it's the only game they're playing in the local group (with Grand
Preceptor) that I can think of playing. They mostly play 40k and one other guy plays
Fantasy and then it's board games. They're fun guys, though, so I'll try it.

I'm okay with calling them toys. It just makes me appreciate the work other guys do
even more.
Game Color is okay, with some obvious failures in red, yellow and green. However, I
like most of their browns and supplement with Model Color and Reaper triads (Asian
INvasion, baby).
The buildings are just primed with armory gray and then I brushed on water based
Rosewood Wood Stain. I drybrushed with a cheap apple barrel white mixed with some
gray paint (you'll see a picture of that once the weather clears over here). I'm NOT
looking forward to painting my Cities of Death stuff as they're filled with details that
I want to paint, but don't necessarily want to paint an entire city for.

Yeah, details do fade, but I've never been a real subtle painter. I use the gloss to
subdue some of my lazier layers. I drop minis ALL THE TIME. The answer is
probably to be less clumsy, but that would be unrealistic. If you look at the
pirates you'll see various chips and debris on them from when I dropped the
minis on concrete. I had just finished my second layer of varnish and I was so
excited to be done that I grabbed the spray box too quickly, which bumped the
utensil tray that was precariously perched on the same table, which toppled the
whole thing headfirst onto the concrete. Some of the minis scattered amidst
dead leaves.
Thanks for the mention. It's fun cutting, pasting, and fixing typos.
(Now it feels like work)
