Working on 3 vindicator for my chaos guys... as I was building I thought I'd try it without the dozer blade.. gives it less of a "beefy" look I guess... what do you guys think? yey or nay?

I personally like the dozer blade much much more. Always made me think it uses that badass cannon to completely wreck something in its way, then uses that badass snowplow to totally plow the remains of what it just wrecked. 100% Badass.

I agree, the dozer blades give it more of a "about to destroy" something look; especially if modeled to make it look dirty. Since the Vindicator can't exactly shoot all over table, it's more realistic (imo) to have it plowing it's way up close to blow something up.

Well I think without the blade it almost looks more "sneaky" like it could fit into tighter corners and blow away those stinkin imperial brats hiding in the alleys.
Since there will be 3 of them, maybe I could do 2 like this, and the "lead" tank would have the full dozer blade? Then I'd have those 2 others left over to use as a dozer blade conversion for my baneblade
I think I'll build all 3 and save the dozer blades/spikes for last and play around and see what i like
I'm actually not adding too many spikey bitz to my tanks, my army is more of a recently turned chapter. I didn't do the dragon heads for my lascannons either. I'll be painting them to look all way overused and rusted out and muddied up

the snowplow looks incredibly dumb. I have them On my three, but they are removable. I only use them when in urban terrain.

My Blood Angels have one, and I didn't put the dozer blade on it. It's one of the Forgeworld kits. I didn't choose the dozer blade upgrade, so I didn't put it on the model.
The dozer blades really depend on what you do with them. The model looks fine without, but if you're going to do something special with the blade, they can look great with.
Some very good weathering, cool freehanding, or effective battle damage can make a dozer look better than not having one. The trick is you have to have a good idea and carry it out well.

Personally, I STRONGLY prefer the big, beefy dozer blade.
If you want to make it look chaosy and different, this is definitely the way to go about it.
Whatever you do, don't leave the front without anything attached.
A Vindicator without a dozer blade just looks like a Rhino with an erection.

Well I built the dozer blade and stuck it on. I didn't glue the bars to the side of the tank, so it's removable at the moment. I did hack off the top part of the blade though, to get rid of the imperial eagle thingy.
Still not sure which way I like better. I agree it looks "tougher" with the blade, but I kinda like the smaller profile it seems to have without it.
I think I'm gonna leave the cannon shell crane off the back too.. just seems like extra bitz that aren't really that necessary... I mean, can't they just keep the ammo inside? and does the crane mean they only have 1 extra shot? ANd how do they get it inside the tank anyway if it's blocking the back hatch?

I don't really like the dozer too much. I took it off mine, but I have it ready to put back on if I want to actually give my Vindicator the upgrade. In normal situations, I roll without it.

Nice to see it without the blade. I'd make it removable so you can use it for COD, but leave it off for regular play. Perhaps magnetized, so you can swap in the Chaos bocage ripper?

well, the front of the tank gets 2 little armor bitz on the side with holes in em, so if you build the whole blade with the pistons and all, you can just snap it into the holes on those plates, so it's actually pretty easy to have a removable blade.. when it's snapped in the blade can move up and down too, which might help a bit for going over terrain and stuff. it's just if I glue the spikey thing on the front, then the blade won't fit.
One guy in my club suggested I do both, keep the blade but add those spikey bitz to the front bottom of the blade, like make the teeth parts longer.

Maybe magnetise the spikes? Sounds silly, I know, but could work.
I don't think the spikes would look good attached to the blade itself.

well, here's all 3 with the chaossy forks .. I think it's officially grown on me.. prolly gonna keep em like this. I used the different one from the land raider for the "lead" tank, but I think I'm just gonna use the same one for all 3

An imposing sight! On balance, I think losing the blade is a definite plus, especially in groups. One huge dozerblade is eye-catching, but three is kind of silly. Call it the Exorcist principle.
And yes, I think you should definitely go with the same spikes on all.

no dozer, it's a nice touch but I see too many of them since apocalypse. Saying that though I am using one on my upcoming demolisher, but that's cuz' I'm theming it as a working machine first rather than a tank.
For a chaos dozer why not try making a jaw/cage type thing? Thinking of maybe the spikes from the old IG dozer (The rounded one) or from the urban baricades. get out the GW terrain (the metal hand thing with a pile of marines in the middle) for an idea.....
But yep, I prefer the chaos ones without, looks less imperially and more spiky without being over the top tank plus spikes.
