Subject: The Land Raider Crusader - AKA The Mold Designer needs to be kicked in the Bojangles...

Ahoy there folks, my apologies if this has been posted before, but I just got done building my 2nd Land Raider Crusader and something has struck me about both of them. Am I just horribly unlucky with my model kits that I purchased or are all bloody LRCs having the same damn mold issues??? I seriously have NEVER had this much issues with assembling models and I've been going at it like nuts over the past few weeks.
1. The Mounting Socket for the front mounted TL-Assault cannon is mis-molded and refuses to attach itself to the plastic mount forcing me to dremel the hole and super-glue the mount together just to get it to hold together (no elevation adjustable assault cannon for me... :( )
2. And the biggest culprit here....Those bloody twin-linked Hurricane Bolters! Dear Emperor in Heaven, how the bloody hell could they mis-mold these thing so badly?? These were the first bloody models I ended up having to go buy accelerant for simply because there was no way I'd be able to get 6 bolters mounted to single strip of metal and have them all line up properly!
Each of these monstrosities took me the better part of the weekend simply because I didn't know about accelerant at the time until the chaps at the hobby shop told me about it, but my gods...am I the only one having trouble here, or did I just get horribly unlucky?

The bolters are a pain in the butt, no matter how you look at it. They aren't messed up, just poorly designed. The assault cannon has to be done perfectly, and even then requires a bit of rigging to get it right. So no you are not alone.

Ah ok then, that makes me feel a bit better, I was almost tearing my hair out after getting done with the 2nd one.
*sigh* man this makes the endless assembling of space marine devastators seem like a walk in the park compared these spankers...

On a positive note... the "spanker" is going to be plastic come fall.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Huh, well thats' good news, though part of me is screaming "I spent x amount of hours assembling these &*#*ers" and this is what happens?
Yeah, I need to take a breather, all those glue and accelerant fumes are getting to meh...

Yeah, I need to take a breather, all those glue and accelerant fumes are getting to meh...
Also, pin the bolters... it makes assembly so much easier.

It really is the worst model ever made.
My mate was assembling his at work (GW) and it kept falling apart, althoguh he finally got it after a loooong time. Then some kid came along and broke one of the hurricane bolters.
My friend then picked the crusader up and threw at across the room smashing it into pieces haha.
Quite a funny day, although now that i repaired it, it serves the emporor again and delivers my grey knight terminators into the heart of the enemy.... as long as it stays together for 2 or more turns.

Having suffered through both the LRC and the Tomb Kings' Screaming Scull Catapult, I have to say the SSC is far, far more trouble to assemble.

I have heard horror stories involving the Tomb Kings' Tomb Scorpion as well.. But, yeah, I had a LRC, but sold it because I got tired of the hurricane bolters falling apart incessantly..

Don't be too Angry with your current LRC. The Plastic kit's supposed to have a second option. "Land Raider Redeemer" with Inferno Cannon sponsons, so you can just build the plastic one as one of those. :p

*Looks at the Hurricane Bolter Sponsoons he superglued/quik-bonded-on in his fit of glue fume madness*

I found a good way to glue these suckers!
Blu-tack!!!
mount the front of the bolters in blu-tack and that can hold all 6 in place on the table... just don't go crazy with the Superglue or you will have blu-tack stuck to them!

To be honest I didn't have any trouble with mine. The bolters were a bit fidly and got stuck to my hands once but it went together OK for me, with fully movavble wepons too. Meltagun got broken off in transport and one of the frag launchers came unstuck during a game but assembling the thing was trouble free, well nothing like you guys say. Took about 2 hours.

I also didn't have that much of an issue with my LRC.
I routinely pin ALL metal assemblies (everything from hand to wrist up to Inquisitor models).
I am also a firm believer in the usage of rubber bands for the assembly of GW vehicle hulls (and spring pegs for eldar stuff).
It's not a model you can rush. Patience will be your friend, here.

No joke, I got my Land Raider Crusader when they first came out, opened it up, saw those twin-linked Hurricane Bolters, put the lid back on the box, and told myself I'd put it together later. That was................ longer than I can remember.
