There was a very very bad accident in the beginning of March I think in a town near San Francisco. Some cyclists (training for road racing) were riding on the right side of the road when a deputy sheriff approached from the opposite direction at high speed, he apparently fell asleep right as he was coming around the turn and veered into the lane with the cyclists. Killed the lead rider instantly, severed the leg of the second (who died 2 hours later in the hospital), and broke the arm and a couple other bones in the third rider. Pretty crappy day, there was a lot of insinuation on the side of the media, that the cyclists were somehow to blame, albeit indirectly, when it was the deputy at fault.

Yak lives in the south of the state though, but he's from San Jose, not too far from where the accident happened I think (an hour?) was wondering if he might of read about it in the paper or something, and referenced it. Sorry for the long-windedness!

I understand that a few years ago there was a similar accident in Myrtle Beach, but "only" a single motorcyclist on the recieving end. The officer ran a stop, plowed into the poor guy. The officer in question wasn't suspended, investigated, nything; just got to go on about his life. THe motorcyclist obviously has a very changed life nw, if he even survived (do't remember). Anyway, there are MANY motorcyclists in Myrtle Beach Sc who leave their bikes i the garage, or leave town altogether, when bike week rolls around each year now.

What do you mean, mal? All ym screw ups are still in there... Oh.

Well, proof that eveyone has opinions. Some people live out there lives in cages, stuck inside without nearly enough exposure to freedom. Others choose to ride motorcycles.

Nah, seriously I don't even own a bike. Want to get one, though. As far as the OP, my wife keeps up with stuff like that. Something about a "Grinch List" that someone puts out that rates well-known charities by how much of their collected funds actually go toward the causes they exit to support. According to this list, the police-oriented orgs get really crappy ratings.

Bike enthusiasts (not motorcycles, mind you) are in great
shape, tell me the city has good roads for Bikes, and all
that. Then every last one of them tells me a horror story.

Of course they laugh it off. Eventually.

I think xenite's avatar is proof of face meets pothole.

All I know is, if the sticker says "to Punish and Enslave" its time to call the autobots.

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? He doesn't have an avatar here- it's the pic in his sigfeeder banner you're thinking of. And yes, there's a reason certain people call him "skidface."
