Well my Forge world order just came in yesterday (got the space wolf Termie conversion kit) and I've been toying with this idea in my head for some time and I would like to run it by all of you. Instead of going with the standard shadow grey for my wolf guard I was thinking of basing them with space wolves grey and then do washes with ice blue added to the space wolves grey till I just get to pure ice blue. Figured it would make the armour look like it was carved from the very rock of the Fang itself, and since these are the elites it would make them look even more badazz. Ill post WIP pics as I go along, but any feedback on the color scheme is welcomed.

Thanks
Gareth

Sounds awesome, the only downside is all the fire they will receive from your enemies when they see the new wicked termies on the table.

Yeah because the enemy never focus there fire on the terminators anyway :p On a more serious note. I think it would look really cool. I look forward to seeing your WIP shots once you begin.

I havent gotten to much done since I got home from work early last night and worked on them abit then had to crash. Here is what Ive gotten done so far! And before ya ask the reason why Im painting the armour codex grey before space wolves grey is from trial and error. I had painted 2 rhinos space wolves grey, 1 without codex grey beneath and the other with....it took alot less paint with the codex grey beneath, and it made the paint job appear much cleaner. Ill see if I can get more work done today or tomorrow.

Got the base coat of space wolves grey on and Im messing around with different settings on the camera since some seem to come out to bright, guess Ill have to fiddle with the settings more. Ill try to get a wash of SW Grey and Ice Blue mix on them sometime later today after I get some sleep. Tell me which setting on the camera looks better too!

Well I got the first wash of about 70/30 SW Grey and Ice Blue and I got the weapons done too (basecoat and wash that is). Quick matter of question should I paint the helmets shadow grey with a wash of SW Grey or try for the same colour scheme? Any comments and such are welcomed.

I can't tell if it's just the photo, but it looks like you've missed big areas of undercoat, especially around the heads. Might be worth patching that up ASAP.

I look forward to seeing how these turn out. I have the same minis, but used a standard colour scheme - they're a great looking set.

I touched up around the head areas but the actuall head areas Im not going to put much work into yet, Ill just do some SW Grey and then put the head in, and Ill do the other two faces after I get the armour done. Thanks though.

oooh, what do think a super watered down blue ink would look like on these models? And then kinda glassy effects like what people do on Fireprizms.
Keep up the good work,

Either that or would a highlight in Ice Blue work, and I was going to use some 'Ard Coat on them for a bit of a glassy look, make em look more like they are carved from ice and stone that way. May have to pick up some blue ink later today maybe. Thanks for the comments

Finally got the left shoulder pads on and done and the heads done and on the three that need em (pauses slightly for the giggles to die down). Plus I'm starting on the right shoulder pads then I realized that I haven't posted any pics lately (even though there are almost no replies but 1000+ views, either you all like what I'm doing or just giggling and going to some of the better works). I don't think I'll really get a good picture of the right shoulder pads till they are actually on the Terminators but Ill still try to get a pic or two in.

Enjoy
Gareth

Good work so far. Not sure if you are done with the 'skull' like icons on the models, but I'd suggest some shading and highlighting on those parts. they really stand out on the models and some additional detail would really help them out. The FW kit looks very nice and really adds to the great Termie kit. Good luck finishing.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Pretty much the final work on the terminators is done (aside from some base work) I just finally got fed up with some of the shoulder pads since I couldnt get the inscriptions on them to show up worth a darn but otherwise Im happy with the way they turned out. I also touched them up with a very watered down blue ink. As always C&C is welcomed and any suggestions too.
