my list:
lemartes
jump chappy
10DC w/ jump
8 vas, thunderhammer, melta, flamer, psword
10 man tac fist, plasma, lascannon, rhino w/ SB
10 man tac fist, plasma, lascannon, rhino w/ SB
bike w/ melta
bike w/ melta
baal w/ H bolters and P bolter
baal w/ H bolters and P bolter

his list
lord w/ res orb and veil.
12? immortals
12 warriors
12 warriors (might have been a couple more here)
4 destroyers
4 destroyers
squad of scarabs
1 heavy destroyer
1 heavy destroyer
monolith
(thats from memory it should be atleast close)

mission is recon... there is light area terrain cover in each 1/6th of the board or so
he deploys the 2 squads of warriors, the immortals, and the lord in the center of his deployment in cover. one of the heavy destroyers on each edge, both squads of destroyers behind the warriors (behind the area terrain so I couldn't see them) and the monolith towards the right side of his deployment (from my perspective)

I broke my tac squads up into lascannon teams. on my left I had both rhinos and both baals, then I set up the lascannons and both bikes on the right ( to tackle the monolith)

I win the first turn. Over charge both rhinos and the 1st baal, the 2nd stalls. move up both my bikes
the VAS and DC hide behind the wall of vehicles
shooting I manage to immobolize the monolith and take out 1 stupid warrior
his turn he moves up the destroyers and I take some pretty heavy fire
1 rhino immobolized, the other stunned, the baal that was with them loses its assault cannon and 1 heavy bolter, is immobolized and stunned. particle whip misses but his heavy destroyer on that side vaporized an attack bike.

my turn I disembark my 5 man squads out of both rhinos, and advance them towards his positions. the VAS jump in behind one of the tac squads. the baal that stalled on the first turn gets its overcharge so moves up 12 and the DC come in right behind it.

my shooting phase was fantastic. the heavy destroyer on the right died to melta bike, but both lascannons failed to hurt the monolith. however the baal rended 2 of the destroyers in one squad. the tac squad on my far left leveled its plasma gun at the other destroyer squad and felled another 2.. that squad failed morale and fell off the board

his turn the scarabs charge my VAS, the heavy destroyer misses, his remaining 2 destroyers fire at but fail to damage the baal that was already messed up. however a group of warriors get a lucky glancing 6 and destroy the other baal predator.
the other group of warriors and immortals put some heavy fire into the tac squad on the right, reducing them to just the fist and plasma gun. they pass morale

he charges my VAS.. and the scarabs get brutalized. my chappy misses this round of combat but he loses 1/2 his bases without killing any of my VAS thanks to some great armor rolls. I pile in.

my turn. I move up with the left tac squad and the remaining 2 from the right tac squad. my rhino that was stunned gets an overcharged and weasels its way to just infront of his warriors. my DC takes the opportunity to jump behind it (gotta love rolling cover)

again my lascannons and meltagun fail to hurt the monolith due to bad pen rolls
the other heavy destroyer goes down to plasmagun fire
the tac squad on the right assaults a group of warriors, and kills 2 with the fist
the VAS finish off the scarabs and consolodate

his turn the destroyers move along the left board edge past my left tac squad
the lord teleports away from the death company to behind my lines
the other warriors move back towards the board edge
his shooting stuns the rhino that moved up, almost wipes out my left tac squad, his squad of immortals kills 3 VAS but thanks to the 2nd chappy they're fearless. the warrior squad being engaged by the right tac squad fail to wound either of the marines and lose another model in combat. they pass morale.

my turn. VAS move up to assist the 2 marines tied up with the warriors. the DC jump right into the area terrain and nobody gets hurt by dangerous terrain check. my left tac squad kills 1 of the destroyers

in the assault phase, thanks to the litinies I wipe out both warrior squads

he called the game at that point, but either way I had him since he had either crossed or was about to cross the phase out line.

did not expect mechanised to do as well as it did.

some reflections on my list and critique would be good.

I disliked the 8 bolter marines that stood around so the lascannons could shoot. I'm considering dropping the pintle bolters from the baals, 2 death company, and the power sword on the VAS. if I then also downgrade the lascannons to a missile launcher and a plasma cannon I could take a vindicator. or if the lascannons are really that good I could cram a whirlwind into my army by taking out 2 DC and the power wpn on the VAS.

the rolling cover really threw him off his game.. I'm used to playing KOS orks so I applied some of the same tactics. once I immobolized his monolith it became mostly useless since I stayed away from it. he could have played better I think but the monolith was out of range to teleport I think.

I was probably more careful with the DC then I needed to be, but I didn't want to just see them rapid fire'd to death against his gunline.

I probably should have put an attack bike on the left to go after his heavy destroyer earlier since it did so well killing the other one.

any comments about the gameplay or my army list, tactics, etc would be appreciated.

I put the pics up on flickr, feel free to check them out:

Good game! Congrats on the win.

Not being familiar with Blood Angels, I can only critique the Necron player. How did you guys do deployment? It sounds like he placed his entire army and then you placed yours. If so, then you did a good job of deploying in response to his forces. Just a thought, when my friends and I play with those deployment rules (you deploy all, I deploy all), we always let the person who deployed first get 1st turn, since the 2nd person got to set up in response.

The main issues are not how he used his forces, but primarily in how he deployed them. Given the amount of open space in the middle of the board and your mobility with the Rhinos, he's obviously going to stay put and make you come to him. The problem is, he deployed his monolith too far away to support his gunline when it inevitably got assaulted, leaving the warriors to get torn to pieces.

I probably would've put the monolith between the two ruins on his side and used the scarabs to rush your lascannon squads (depending on the size of the scarab swarm). That way, even if the monolith goes down, it can still function in the midst of my army and, if worse comes to worst, it can be a big pile of difficult terrain for you to get around to assault me.

Also, he definitely should've had his Heavy Dests. within 6" of each other. They go down pretty easily and need another unit nearby to get their WBB roll. Wherever he put them, they needed to be near each other. One Heavy Destroyer is not going to take on bikes by itself.

Making his Destroyers flee was huge for you. There's nothing more frustrating for a Necron player than to watch his Leadership 10 [insert Necron unit here] fall off of the board.

Thanks for the batrep!

deployment was standard actually. I had my gameplan in my head before I started deploying. I won the roll and let him go first. he put the monolith down and I started setting up on the far side.

to counter this he put his first heavy destroyer in the far corner from the monolith (to counter my baal) 2nd baal went down next to it. he put the other destroyer near the monolith.
I combat squadded my tac, 1st rhino went next to baal, 5 man with las went into ruins
he dropped the warriors into the ruins where they could see the baal.
I combat squadded my 2nd tac, rhino went on the left lascannon on the right
2nd squad of warriors in the ruins
I put my DC down
immortals into the building
I put my VAS down
destroyers behind building
I put lemartes down
destroyers behind building
I put down chappy, and both attack bikes on the right

I don't know why he put the monolith so far away from his core.. would have been much tougher fight if he had put it in the middle
