Hi. And welcome to the best game that
GW produce!
1) How easy/hard is it to fing figs on ebay? What prices are "normal" for a infantry base, tank or titan?
It really depends on what you are looking for. Common troops, like Marines, Orks, Eldar, etc are fairly easy to find cheaply. If you are looking for Tyranids it gets very expensive, very quickly. When it comes to just numbers of troops, there are regularly a large number of auctions on eBay. You can also get minis directly from
GW or
FW, and there are also a number of other companies that make good substitutes if you dont intend to go to an official event.
2) What's the trickiest part of the game? Movement? Deploy? Shooting?
Formation co-ordination. There is an art form to getting the right formations in the right place to be able to give support to other troops. You will find that armour can hit really hard, but will get destroyed quickly if not given infantry support, and infantry can exchange fire with the best units, but it will take a couple of terms to make a difference without something that hits hard. Aircraft can come in and destroy a long track of enemy, but will be shot down if you havent neutralised enemy anti-air firepower.
3) What are the usual sizes of the games? Is Epic:A more mission based(for example. If an Ork Mob attacks tank factory, there would be couple of tank companies against some ork footsloggers) or more point-based game?
While Epic works very well as a scenario driven game, it has been presented as a points based game by necessity (difficult to balance scenario-based games, and legislate with a single set of rules being played by different groups). The standard tournament game is 2700 points, and most people play this size or 3000 points. Essentially, Epic is aimed at games between 1000 and 5000 points. 3000 Point games will take 2-3 hours when you are familiar with the rules.
Of course, scenario play does feature and the player community do use house rules for scenarios.
4) How long does this "normal" game last?
As I said, a standard game last around 4 turns, and at 2700-3000 points, this should be done in a couple of hours. I have seen battle reports of 16000+ points. These games will take a little longer!
5) Terrain. How much you think is good? What kind?
There are really two types of 'terrain' in the game. Each player places three objectives, and it is these that determine the winner of the game, not just who has killed the most enemy. Often people create special objectives, such as crashed aircraft or titans, and destroyed buildings. Other terrain should be well scattered across the table, as this create much more tactical games. You will need around half a dozen terrain features such as woods, towns, hills, rivers, etc. Check out some battle reports to get an idea.
6) Are there much flyers in that "normal" Epic:A game?(few, bunch?)
Most players change the number of fliers in the game to keep their opponent on their toes. A standard 2700/3000 point force will usually include around one squadron of fighters or bombers, and a transport. Some forces, such as Marines and Eldar, will have more, some like Chaos may have less. If you have less, you may want to compensate by having more flak anti-aircraft units as protection. It is possible to create a Marine list consisting of a space vessel, and only infantry dropped in by Thunderhawks and drop pods, if that is what you like.
Epic is a great game, and rewards the thoughtful player. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have.
