Yeah, I know getting your news strictly from the American Mass Media is a fools errand, but I'm seeing a pattern. The Chinese are all over this thing like ants on a dead animal. You see Chinese military, engineers, public assistance agencies, etc... all over the place. Helos bringing in supplies. Draining whole freakin lakes that weren't there a couple weeks ago. ALREADY investigating into poor construction methods and materials evidently used in shools (of ALL THE PLACES you would shortchange construction, a school?!?!?!?). These people are slammi it pretty hard to help those who can be helped, and remembering those beyond help.

Compare and contrast with the response time the US government had getting into areas striken by Katrina. I think that the "evil, communist" government of China is dong a better job. Pains me to say that.

Just thought I'd bring that up.

Not only is the earthquake and Katrina George Bush's fault, but the storm in Burma is as well. He's like the natural disaster master of Evil. The fact he hasn't launched a Tsunami/Earthquake/Hurricane/sudden shortage of TP on Al Qaeda shows how evil he really is. Its all about oil.

Sadly some people will not see the sarcasm in that.

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

Nah, Burma's not his fault. He has no vested interests in higher rice prices. Now higher OIL prices, different story.

Nah, never read it, but heard quite about it from one of the doom cryers I work with. I believe it's premise is that a small clique of the ultra-powerful have/are profiting from the disasters in the world, starting with "W" tha Great and Terrible. Something like that, kittenslayer? So, it appears you are saying Bush IS profiting from the disaster in Burma? How? I heard biofuels, but does Burma REALLY export that much of either rice or processed biofuel?

I have read the book that guy mentioned, if you bother to READ it, then you would realise that blaming it on Bush is as stupid as the next liberal.

What is it with you Americans that thinks opinions based on Ignorance is valid over facts?

As far as Burma goes, I don't enough about country's history to judge this matter. But I don't think it's part of the freemarket Junta that's plagued Latin American and most of South East Asia.

But as far we saw from the media, the West DID feth ALL, which is rather different to the whole "helping Iraq" situation.

Biofuel are crap

Hey there Gangsta Tau,
Not really sure who you're pissed at, besides Americans as you mentioned. Like I said, I haven't read the book, and as such have rendered no opinions about it, merely passing along some info I heard about it (as I stated) from a buddy who DID read it. Actually, a couple of buddies. Neither of whom was American. Both of whom were reporting very different opinions from what you stated. Again, offering no opinions about it myself (as I haven't read it), merely passin' it along as I heard it.

Why do you think biofuels are crap? I know a heck of a lot of Brazilians who think they are the cat's ass, and from what I hear it's in great usage in Brazil (one of the benefits of a command economy). They're dyin' for the US to drop tariffs so they can cut a profit shippin it north as well. Why your stance? Again, just tryin to learn a bit.

Biofuels work locally for Brazil which has a huge agricultural base compared to its car population, no readily available oil resources and until recently a crappy currency and economy that was incapable of importing as much oils as was needed.

In other circumstances where these factors are not operating, biofuels may not be a good idea. Even if they are a good idea, there may be better ideas available such as tidal and geothermal power cracking water to Hydrogen to be used in fuel cells.

Beg pardon, but Brazil has some very significant oil in it's holdings. Petrobras may be about as well-run as Brittney Spears brain, but the oil reserves the develop in-country are pretty well vast.

As far as the aggie base, well it's there all right.

I'd LOVE to see more water cracking. THat's about as plentiful a power source as we could want. For now, I guess.

That's true now but the Brazilians have been using biofuels for 30 years. Nowadays it's still better for them to sell their oil for hard currency. Also note that this offshore field is as yet undeveloped.

Killkrazy: I think we may be on the same side of the point here. I agree that that biofuel appears good for Brazil. The Brazilians I have spoken with have sure agreed with that, excluding the ones who are forced out of economic necessity to harvest the stuff. I disagree with the statement Brazil has no readily available oil resources. They may not have them on the scale of a Saudi Arabia, or another OPEC big-stick, however they made better than 42 billion last year off their oil. That's significant. They DO have some readily available oil resources.
