America... Feth Yeah!

Hello fine, fine members of Dakka, and Dakka Dakka even. I am Ebullient, or, by day, Luke. I am 14 and am currently 'interested' in starting up Warhammer 40k with a friend of mine. We ordered the Battle for Macragge just to try it out and I've been all over the interweb researching what appears to be a fantastic game! I have a couple questions if anyone could answer them, and then I'll get into more about me.

Questiaroonies!

1.) The Battle for Macragge set, does that contain a good enough rule book to play basic games apart from the Battle for Macragge?
2.) Assuming that the answer to the above question is, in fact, 'yes', then to what extent?
3.) Taking into account my personality, which will be stated below, can you reccomend a good race for me to play?

Thanks. No for more about me. I am unofficialy crazy, often becoming lost in little worlds within my own mind, losing grip on reality and murmuring things and making wierd hand signs for hours at a time. I enjoy tactics over full out confrontation. I am a less than strong twig who's very lazy, relying mostly on underhanded tricks to protect myself. I am a glutton, yet weigh less than 100 pounds. I love planning, but am weak willed, and constantly find myself enraged to a dangerous point. I enjoy making people happy, making jokes, and all around making good times. I tend to slip in and out of loving the world, and hating it, and wanting to slip out of it for a few hours. I constantly theorize on different things and am constantly thinking about death and the problems of the world. I enjoy sleeping and just hanging around. I am a insanely good defender on my soccer team and believe pressing the defense up and letting no man through is the best way to win. I hate stupid questions, but I love kindly answering them. I believe all humans, including myself, are destined to doom themselves, unable to take themselves from their greed and their foolish selfishness. I like things to be perfectly organized, but am a huge slob within my own comfort zone. I don't like meeting new people. I'm a flirt, great at massages, and I'm a dog person.

So there you have it, I look forward to getting to know ALL of the DakkaDakka members!

Welcome. The Battle for Macragge should be fine to get you started, but the 5th edition rule book will be out in July, so you might want to hold off on expanding to more armies until then.

Regarding armies, is there anything in a particular that interests you? I'd recommend stopping by the local game store, talking to some other players, and participating in the store games, if the stores have their own armies.

I thought of that, unfortunately there are little, if any, stores that carry Warhammer in my state, let alone close enough for me to convince ANYONE to drive me there to get what they'd call a waste of money. I'll proably just order online with my friend. I'm having trouble deciding between Necrons, Eldar, Daemonhunters, and Orks...

First of all, GREAT intro Sir, well done.

As for the sort of Army I think would suit you(From what little I know-so please take it with a grain of Salt the size of Utah)-Dark Eldar.

Imagine the 'Lord of the Rings' Movie crossed with 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'

Elves in Leather-'nuff said.

Wait for 5th Ed mate-my opinion anyways Bud.

Welcome to Dakka!

Chowderhead - God no. If I said Pirates Honor, I would have had to kill him whether he won or lost.
