So I was puttering around on Army Builder and created a list that I think takes advantages of the HEs superior magic and shooting but still has a couple of units that can be used to take the fight to the enemy. The list has 16 powerdice and 9 dispel dice base, plus the ability to steal a tenth dice from the opponent. The shooting comes in the form of 20 archers, 4 repeater bolt throwers and some shadow warriors. Two spearblocks, some dragon princes, chariots, and reavers round out the list. Haven't played HEs in ages. Please give me some feedback so I can tweak this list. Debating between the Elves and the Empire posted elsewhere for which Army to get back into Fantasy with.

Where's the Star Dragon?

I'd go with Empire. If you've decided on High Elves, I'd get the Dragon, some scroll caddies, 2x18 Spearmen, lots of Tiranoc chariots and some Bolt Throwers / Eagles. It's not the best army but if you play against retards you'll be allright.

ok, well i have never used the lion chariots. they are pretty cool with their high damage impact but i don't think they stand up too well. (plus i suck with Chariots). anyways i would switch them out and good a solid block of Swordmasters if you want some killy close combat action. some Phoenix Guard if your panning to play low leadership armies. however, i would suggest going with some white lions. your army would do well with something that isn't going to flee and can tie up a powerful enemy unit for a couple turns while your mages do the work.

I think Therion meant Tiranoc chariots, not lion, but I could be wrong. They are 18 inch missiles.

It also depends on whether the league/tourney uses comp. 8 chariots usually = 0 comp unless you are Tomb Kings. Also, lots of chariots can have major problems against WE or terrain heavy boards.

I agree that WLs are very useful for clearing terrain and and anchoring. Similarly, so are DPs with the Ellyrian banner. SMs can butcher but are vulnerable to shooting and magic. The Amulet of Fire or Incense is pretty funny on a unit champ of WLs/SMs/PGs.

Don't worry of your HE aren't super leet- HE aren't a tier 1 list anyhow. 3000 might be kind of big to get back into the game with as most games I have seen are around 2000-2250, although many fantasy players can cover the 3k.
