Why don't we just:

Randomly choose one of the top 25 cities in the US. Pick the high school principal with the most awards. Offer them the job. If the principal passes offer it to the head janitor.
Either would be eminently more qualified than any politician, anywhere.
-Dealt with difficult situations
-Dealt with a variety of interest groups
-Dealt with discipline problems and security issues
-Dealt with border security
-Managed a budget
-Used to cleaning up the messes others (Congress and President) have left behind.
-Have had to buy their own groceries within the last year, and drive themselves to work.

I know I know. You're saying Frazmaster thats a horrible idea. We should use it for the Presidency instead. But I'd have to differ. We still need democracy and would have to have each party randomly choose a high school principal.

Can someone show me a downside?

Regional politics would come into play. If your random city turned out to be East Coast, West Coast, New England, or anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon line, and the Presidencial candidate on then ticket was also from one one the above, then they'd never carry the South, and no one in 180 years has made it to the White House without carrying the South. Even JFK had to have Johnson to accomplish it. Reagan had Bush Sr. The list goes on and on.

Thats why there's option 2-each party has their own principal. The winning principal wins-everyone wins as the quality and standards of Washington rise appreciably.

Now I know this won't happen, mainly because its a threat to Congress (that whole making us look bad thing rearing its ugly head). But can we name a more qualified politician?

Personally, I'm all for anyone with the title "Destroyer of Worlds" to be in politics. I'd vote in an All-Destroyer ticket.
