I've been playing 40k for a little over a year now, I've got a little over 2000pts in my Tau army. Originally from NH but been moving around since after high school. A buddy of mine introduced me to 40k about three or four years ago but didn't pick it up until reciently. It's been great so far, I'm even thinking about picking up a second army. I'm more drawn to Space Marines, I was thinking Grey Knights at first, mostly for backstory, but also Red Scorpions.
Any suggestions?

Can't go wrong with GreyKnights, great fluff and great models.

IMHO Black Templar are the way to go. Like the GK they have great back story, But on the table top I find they are more versatile.

Red Scorpions. Oh, bad idea for two reasons.

1. If you want an all FW army, you'll need to remortgage your house to get that much infantry.
2. They're a basic SM chapter with traits. The new SM codex is getting rid of traits.

If you've set your heart on doing them (because the fluff is admittedly quite nice - I love IA4 ), wait until the new SM codex comes out. Get some normal marines and paint them in Red Scorpion colours. Maybe get the FW models to convert your Sternguard and the brass etch to customise your vehicles.
