Subject: considering starting legion of everblight, decent list / best buys to start out with for a newbie?

I was watching some friends play Hordes/Warmachine at my LGS and I was thinking of starting Legion of Everblight. I particularly like the Angelius model I think it looks really cool. I think dragons kick ass. The Seraph model looks pretty cool too. Not to sure which caster I like the most based on looks. Saeryn looks more like a caster should though. Lylyth looks more like an archer.
Whats a good starting point as far as models to buy to make like 500 points and whats a good buy? Are the Warpacks a good deal versus buying things individually? I know in Warhammer/40k the starter box is an excellent buy with over 100 worth of models for 60 and you get the rules and templates. Definately want to get at least 1 Angelius and 1 Seraph because I like the models.

I ran a LOE list based on Lylyth and the box set with a angelius, stryders, and blighted swordsmen. So I would suggest the box set and a Angelius to start with.

In general the starter boxes are a good buy for newbie. The models are a lot cheaper compared to buying them individually and the figs are usually good for larger games too.
In addition you cannot get the hordes starter warlocks outside of the starter boxes.

Well you can, but it requires you to buy all of the pieces separately from Privateer's online bits store. Not exactly cost-effective.
I second the recommendation of getting the box set. Its a great place to start. You will find that all of the models you'll get are worthwhile (Lylyth, 4 Shredders, Carnivean) and you get the starter rules to boot. The only problem being that it does not include any of the winged models that you want.
If you're positive that you want to do a heavily winged army, and you're not sure about the Starter models, skip the starter box and pick up Primal and Evolution and look into all of the Warlocks first.
I'm not sure which Warlock would be best, but you can make a solid beast-heavy force with Harriers, Seraphs, and an Angelius or two. Throw in a couple Forsaken and a Shepherd for control as well.

Thanks for the advice.
I do like the Winged Models and intend on getting them as well.
So getting a Warpack and 1 Angelius and 1 Seraph would be a good starting point?

That will give you a very nice selection of beasts to try out 350 point games with.
Those models actually put you at about 487 pts I believe, but you probably will want to drop one or two in exchange for some troops and solos once you start playing at the 500 point level.

Those models would give you nice 350 pts games, the amount of beasts is not feasible for 500 point games, as you cannot manage the fury 7 beasts generate.
For 500 pts games you want some infantry and solos to compliment the beasts.

What troops and solos do you recommend getting? Should I get a different warlock? Lylith only has 5 fury, maybe Vayl 8 Fury or Saeryn 7 fury would be better to handle more beasts?

Practically ever Everblight army should use a forsaken anyway. And that will let you use a ton more beasts. If you really want to toss in a shepard as well.
Troops are up to you but you can't go wrong with a unit of blighted swordsmen and 5 incubi. And if you want to go for more for a 750 game get another unit of 10 legionaires or something and another 5 incubi.
