Excellent article - well thought out and well written

Something I would add is improved social skills. Many children only interact with either family or peers of their own age.

As a former teacher (and ardent gamer ) I was always impressed with the behaviour and social skills of those pupils who gamed, or pursued other hobbies with high levels of social interaction.

Wargaming naturally generates an environment whereby children interact with a wide range of age groups and people with varying interests and lifestyles. This encourages respect for others and more confident interaction with adults.

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

A very well thought out article which not enough war gamers pay attention to. Getting new people into the hobby expands the pool of people we can play against, the number of ideas put forth and provides energy to the hobby. But I digress, when I was younger my father introduced me to the hobby of war gaming by having me role his dice (I was four). As I grew older I began taking command first of units and then whole flanks until I was old enough to play against him. It was a great way to bond growing up and something decades latter I am thankful that we did together (even if he took all my good luck and used it while I was young!).

Congratulations on getting your sons into the hobby!
