I am looking to upgrade my Daemons.

LOC with Power vortex and Flames
Herald with Flames in unit of 18 Horrors plus Changeling
Herald with Flames in unit of 13 Horrors
10 Horrors
5 Furies
5 Furies
4 Screamers
5 Flamers
5 Flamers

15PD 9DD

I am considering swaping Flmaes of Tzeentch for Master of Sorcery on both Heralds as well.

Thoughts?

SO far I have a Massacre against O&G, Solid V vs Lizardmen, Solid V vs HE, Draw vs Skaven, Solid L vs VCounts, and got Massacred vs Nurgle (but the 4 Boxcars for leadership did not help).

I am assuming your LOC is a level 4 mage correct?

If so nothing particularly wrong here except that your list will be very vunlerable to fast hard hitters like bretonians. Horros even with heralds in them can't stand up to a strong charge.

13 horros is a wierd choice, better would be to ditch 3 horrors and buy an icon of sorc for the 18 model unit.

I personally would replace the screamers and a flamer or two with some flesh hounds, your list needs a counter charge unit.

I would dump the changling and get will of TZ on your LOC.

First off, all LOC's should be Kairos. I'm entirely serious, there's no excuse for fielding a non-Kairos LOC.

Beyond that I think you need some things that can fight. You've got a lot of magic, but ultimately, you've got very few ways to handle enemy units that get to grips with you, in a list that can't flee. Flamers are alright at fighting, but they can't eliminate rank bonuses, and the rest of your list will just evaporate in CC.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

40k I would not go so far as you. The one real advatage of an LOC over Kairos is that an LOC can fight. In this particular list the LOC is the only thing with any CC capability so it makes sense to me to keep it.

40K - I play Fantasy so not sure how Kairos is different between the 2 versions. But I do not think he is that great. Too easy to kill.

Russell - LVL4 Mage indeed!

To All : I play a lot of Hall of Heros so require 30% core.

Could drop Changeling to get to 30% but then not much to fill up the ranks. And losing 8 Horros takes longer then 5 (with 4+ ward save). When at 5Horrors in unit you have no spell casting!

Keep talking though and I will keep you posted on how things go!

I think Kairos is best bet - he will be a monster in Magic phase and you will most likely never have a premature ending to your magic phase from miscast. Yes Kairos cant kill a fly in HTH but LOC isn't the ideal one to do so either - even if you flank with him there could be trouble too (including tying him up in your magic phase and thus having a crappy one). Only GD having any business attacking units are KOS and BT. Kairos has 3+ inv and if you give him the steal life spell he can replenish 1w per turn. Since Kairos has flying it will be your fault if he ever gets caught in combat unless your opponent dance macabered or unseen lurkered. Plus realistically most stuff should die where kairos stands due to his versatile and powerful magic phase:

Start with 4PD + 2 Base. Cast Boon of tzeentch on a 2+ to give more PD or draw out 1-2 DD. with 5 PD he can cast ~3 spells a turn with great success (+2 cast). Even if he doesnt have huge success he is huge point denial as well and you could even hide him in a corner and just cast LOS no limit spells.... Too bad he doesn't get 8PD for having 2 heads...
