Hey guys,

I'm going to be assembling a few more Chaos cruisers, and I'd like to make one of them a heavy cruiser. I know the Styx was over-priced, but has since been re-costed. Is it still overpriced though? I was planning on making at least one (and maybe two) Devastations instead of a Styx. So I guess the best options are either the Hades or the Acheron. What are the best uses and combinations to use for heavy cruisers? Any general info or advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Hordini

Take a Hades with a couple of murder class. Their combined lances can easily cripple a ship every turn. You can take the styx if it going to be the only carrier in your fleet. Otherwise hades all the way.

From next to no experience with BFG:
The hades is relatively cheap and acts like a 'big brother' to the murders...and murders do well from what I've heard.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Normally I'd frown at the threadromancy, but since I only had one reply anyway, it's not really a big deal.

I appreciate the input Sanctjud!

I'm still curious about this topic, so if anyone else has anything to add, please feel free! We'll just pretend I started this thread today!

I already have two Murders, so it seems like a Hades might be a good choice to back them up. I know a lot of people use Carnages instead of Murders, but it seems like the lances might be useful with a combination of two Murders and a Hades.

How do you guys feel about the Acheron?

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I use the Acheron because it looks different, I modelled up a spare battleship bridge section to add bulk to the vessel, because the undercut gun decks do remopve a lot of bulk on what is supposedly a bigger ship than the standard cruiser hull.

Acheron delivers in range and arc but not in firepower, just as well you can only take one. Of itself its useless however the Acheron does work well in conjunction with other ships. Because its lances fire just about anywhere it can bolster the lance firepower of two other vessels in different arcs. This is usful in case you do enough damage to clear shields but no more. The follow up attacks mak the prior attacks worthwhile wheras due to shield recovery ther shots would be wasted. Acheron is a good ship to fire last or near last in your sequence.

I was never a fan of Styx, however I might reconsider if told what the vessel is recosted to.

Hades are very good, but normally used in conjunction with Murders. as stated elsewhere Chaos needs to complement its firepower strengths; got Murders choose Hades, got Carnages maybe, got Slaughters look elsewhere.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.
