I don't *hate* Kill points but I like this system better:
Battle points:Units are worth 1 battle point for every 50 points (round up/down accordingly) that they cost on the roster. Units that are “Marked for Death” are worth double battle points. It is advisable to total each unit’s battle point count before the game. To score battle points for a unit it must be wiped out or off-board at the end of the game. Transport vehicles are scored separately from their assigned unit. Immobilized vehicles are simply worth 1 battle point (but that point does not stack with the point for destroying the vehicle.) Army commanders are worth an additional +1 battle point.
Before the mission you take turns declaring which enemy units are "Marked for Death." d3 units (roll once and that's the number for both players) get marked for death.

Why not just use Victory Points?
I mean, we've been using the system for years now, it works, and whilst there's a new found need for 'objective based gaming', the Kill Point system is just a joke.
Use VP's for any non-objective mission. It's easy and doesn't create any inherent imbalances like the 2000 point Guard v Ork games where the Ork army gives up 9 KP total yet the Guard army gives up 25.

Oh, lord, not BPs again. I thought we did away with that in Second Edition.
Score KPs at 1 per FOC slot, All-or-Nothing.
Yes, IG can "hide" a squad at the rear and NEVER give up a Platoon KP. IG Platoons *should* be hard to kill - that's the benefit for their being made up of S3 T3 Sv5+ meat sacks.
Yes, Lesser Daemons are "throwaway" suicide Troops that don't give up KPs. Being Scoring but not risking KPs makes them *almost* worth taking in a CSM army.

Me and my friends have voted not to use the kill point system. VPs work fine.
That works for us and if you don't like KPs don't use them.
This is fine for a friendly setting. Don't know what you'll do in tournies. Any horde army is gunna have to be pretty awesome to score higher.

The benefits are already conferred--you're 6 points a model. If that rule was implemented, multi-unit FOC slots would get abused the hell out of.

Huh? Guard are clearly overpriced at 6 ppm, particularly with expensive Transport.
If their Platoons don't give up KPs, then they'd be worth their points.
But don't forget that the Guard aren't made up entirely of Platoons, so there will still be KPs available.
