So I got into 40k about a year ago. I really liked all the do-dads that the Space Wolves got, so I decided to make an army. The driving force behind this army is "hey, I bet that would look cool," so there may be things in there that may not work well on the battlefield.

This is my first painted army, and it is coming together slowly. I have most of my minis assembled and while I'm still do-dadding up my minis, I have started to paint in earnest. I have a Squad of Grey Hunters finished, and this Dreadnought. I figured I would post some pictures of the Dread first because my photo-fu is not-so-good and he GHers didn't come out too well.

Anywho...

Here is the Dread. I created "extra armor" for him out of a storm shield stolen from assault marines.

I realized after I had put the shield together that the symbol I put on the center of the shield is the same frickin' one that is on the Sarcophagus. So I currently am in the middle of making another one without the Wolf Skull.

Here is the second picture of the Dread. This time without the extra armor. You can see the small circle the shows where I buried the magnet in his chest.

The next picture (sorry for the quality) shows off one of the things I REALLY wanted to incorporate into my Space Wolves Army. Wolf Pelts. I will have wolf pets everywhere. This was my first attempt at it, and I believe it came out pretty well, although its hard to tell from this picture.

The arms on the Dread are magnetized and let me tell you that that was a PITA. This is a fully metal mini, so the arms weight an ass-ton. The CCW army actually weighs a metric ass-ton.

The next pictures will probably be of the TLLC and ML arms, both of which have more wolf pelts.

Tell me what you think, unless of course you don't like it, then keep your mouth shut!

Yeah, you uploaded them in the photo dump correctly. I think your slight goof was in the url used in this post.

Try this:

Go back to your photo dump post, right click an image, and click "Copy image location"

Paste that info into your <image> tag in this post. Should fix the image size issue

(using the "copy link location" in your image tag will result in the original, full-size image being linked)

I think you can do with a bit more shading on the body. a wash (badab black) or some highlighting with space wolves grey or preferably both would break up the model a bit. Now it is a bit to much imho...

other then that keep up the work!! (I won't say good until you shade )

I think you have a way to go. But don't despair. The wolves are a great army to paint. Here are a few quick suggestions...

1. Less paint is more. Multiple lighter layers is way better thana few heavy ones. Right now I think you need to thin down your paint a bit.

2. The wolves are a great army to drybrush...adds depth and goes iwth their rough and tumble fluff.

3. Think about washes. They make the recesses nice and dark and depth to the model...

4. This is my methiod for wolves... Bae coat white. Thin coat of Shadow grey. A nice coat of wonder wash black. Heavy drybrush of shadow grey. Medium brybrush of space wolves grey. Super light drybrush of white. Then do the details. You hav eto b ecareful with the details but the result i snice.

Luck

The drinking halls of Fenris or South London as its sometimes called

dont drybrush sw they look chalky and rushed, Just start with a black undercoat, and work up from there with various coat of shadow grey
start with 1:1 black /shadow grey than 1:2 etc. check out how gw paint them if you get stuck

I agree your models needs some shading and some highlights
