I am a rather old gamer, at least when it comes to a tapletop strategy and roleplaying games. I began to play GW games because of my friends, as one got a job as a shop manager and soon everyone was infected. Back then 40k was running it's 3rd edition and Fantasy battle was still 5th edition. I practically skipped 4th edition in 40k, there was lots of reasons, but now I thought to continue gaming.

For me the 40k has always been more relaxing "waagh!"-type of a game, while I think fantasy battle is better by it's game mechanics. Overall these games are serving me well, as the one offers much humorous action and the another gives a bit more tactical enjoyment. It's not the games thought, which push me over the edge, it's all those models and painting them. Nice change for a cardboard counters and the playing time in miniature games is also handy, 2-4 hours mostly.

40k armies:
-Space Marines with wide range of options, no idea how many points
-Tyranids for reasonable 3000pts. army
-Sisters of Battle / Which Hunters around 3000pts. also

WHB armies:
-High Elves 2000pts. (Needs still some work)
-Dark Elves (Sold my previous army, so this is a new project)
-Lizardmen 3000pts.

Nice to be here

Welcome to Dakka

That's a sizable collection. Where do you store them?

Thank you. Playing only every second edition will make things easier, as the rules tend to change between favoring vehicles and footsloggers in every edition.

Planning something? Currently they are in the attic, in white plastic storage boxes.

No, just wondering what others do with large collections.
Mine occupies the better part of our basement. Boxes stacked on boxes. Shelves packed with boxes. Entertainment center packed with boxes.
