I've been inspired to put up what I'm currently working on as I have really personally enjoyed watching the development of some of the other painting blogs.

Devalin 1Ksons blog really pushed me to do this (just by existing really!) so I hope that you guys can enjoy this as well (albeit that it probably isn't up to that quality)

The idea behind this was really that I wanted to play Dark Angels but I wanted the robes to be green, so inverting the generic colours (Ie quasy deathwing colours was the way I went)

Technically I started doing bikes (which I'll put up later as they need to be changed a little to the newest variation of this theme that I have settled on) but the scheme slowly changed to what it is now.

So what do you guys think?

Thanks

Nicely executed paint jobs, although I think the green should be deeper and darker. The inverted colorscheme works really effectively, though.

Great color combinations as the bright green really compliments the bone white. Red is always a eye catching effect so good highlights. I personally would blacken the weapons more with lighter red highlights.

I see X-mas Marines! LOL the paint job looks great btw but the color combo is one I think I would have steered away from.

You have a good hand at blending. Nicely done. though it seems the highlights went a lil too far on the robes, would like to see them darker to push the contrast of the white and green.

Thanks for the comments guys,

I'll be loading up some larger pics (and a little better quality on the light) in the near future (hopefully like 10-12 hours from now )

HBMC: I've almost got one of the bikes done, I'll post that as soon as it is completed (I needed to change the way the bone armour was done)

Walrus: Hopefully you'll like the rest, this is kinda the basic stuff that I thought I would post just to see what people thought.

Zhet and Funky: I saw the christmas theme as well, but I also thought that the colours worked really well (and the bone instead of the white made it workable)

Machineslave: That's how they started (with a much darker green) as they looked really good individually. But when I had all 10 lined up the green didn't look as striking as I wanted (hence the fluro highlights)

The bike doesn't have to have the riders attached. I mean, when I've fought them they didn't have riders, so I doubt anyone will notice.

love the colour scheme, but ony thing i dislike is the robe, highlighted too much, but thats just my oppinion.

Well,
it's taken me a little longer than I expected to remember to post this (IE larger pictures)
but this means that I can at least throw up a marine biker (as part of my ravenwing contingent)

I wanted to make the whole army the same theme,
even the librarians will be in the same colours (albeit with a little blue splashed here and there)

hope the pics are ok.

Looks very nice and polished. For me too clean, but then I can't even begin to paint as clean as you do...

Might I also suggest drilling out the barrels of the bolters and the exhausts of the bike?? You appear to have done so for the infantry, so why not for the bike...

Everything is superbly painted, I just wish that there were more contrast on some of the weapons. i.e. The red bolters on the bike and the red flamer.

Lord Rav:

I totally agree with drilling them out, I actually painted the bikes (I have 7 painted in the un-updated scheme) first and didn't think to drill out back then.

I will go back and do that (I ironically cannot find the drill bit at the moment )

Great paintjob, but migth be a bit "shiny". Just my opinion...

With that paintjob, I would have called them Angels of Absolution.
The paintscheme is very close to that successor chapter.
Again a parsonal opinion..

Azmo: Yeah very close indeed, I did think about that but am not really fussed about the name of the successor chapter (just that it is one)

Also, yeah they are a little shiny from the blending on the green, I haven't used the matt sealing spray on them yet (which should help dull them a little)

HBMC: Patience, I need to finish the highlights on him, I'll have him done in the next couple of days.

Thanks for the comments guys.

i really like these. a lot different than the standard near-black DA. i think my favorite is the 2nd launcher guy. The red on those weapons is great... would love to know which colors you are using. looks like a base with a couple highlights and a wash, but would be interested to know exactly.

Gathering the Informations.

I like them.
The painting is really nicely done, and crisp.

The only complaint is the kind of brighter green. It makes me think of Gretchins or Striking Scorpions =P.

But you said you haven't matted them yet, so maybe that'll tone it down a bit.

Either way, they look great!

Count Bonchula: The base is macharite (I think) foundation red, then blood red, then fiery orange which is then washed with a custom black ink (made with a medium so that it is thicker)

Kanluwen: Yeah, I didn't have them that way to start with as individually they looked a little odd (but decided that as a group the brighter green highlight really helped)

I'll try and get to the stage where I have enough to post a group photo (IE 20 models or more) and see what you guys think of the green then.
