Heya everyone, total noob here (to the game, not the gaming). After a couple years of pressure from friends and a serious lack of funds, I finally caved and purchased some Dark Eldar. Yay evilness!

I'm looking forward to loosing a great many battles in the immediate future, but hoping to master the army quickly so I may take revenge on my friends for getting me into this horribly expensive hobby.

DE is not easy to play but very rewarding once you managed the basics. Any idea for an army list?

Nothing specific yet. I have played a few games with a couple friends and used some fairly specialized lists; just to get an idea of the units abilities and weaknesses. With each game played, lessons are learned and future lists are modified. I really like mounting wyches on raiders with slave snares. My next experiment is to have them come out of a webway portal. I'm really looking forward to the opponents reaction since I'm the only DE player they have played against; it should be pretty entertaining

Do you have any suggestions? I play a weekly 600 / 1200 pt game (there are three of us and we play a quick 1 (1200pt) vs 2 (600pt each) game.

Well, I'd take Sniper squads as core (10 Warriors with 2 dark lances each).
Add an Archon on foot with agonizer, combat drugs (always take reroll to hit and +1A), shadowfield, splinter pistol, plasma grenades.
Other useful units are Wych squads (10 Wyches with wych weapons, incl. Succubus with agonizer, trophy rack), Raider squads (10 Warriors with splinter cannon, blaster incl Sybarite with agonizer), and Ravagers (3 dark lances for tank hunting or 1 dark lance and 2 disintegrators for anti-heavy-infantry).
Build the army from these units.

I myself run a full wytch army Lelith rocks in combat. I tend to stay away from Hellions I have found them useless. Scourges on the other hand are quite handy exspecialy with four splinter cannons.

Nice to see a new DE player and from the name a female at that. More females in the hobby is a very welcome sight.

Right, female players are rare in the hobby. Again, welcome to the community.

Thank you all

It's true, there is a serious lack of cool nerds around; we're working hard to remedy that though. In my gaming circle, there are about 6 men and 5 women (myself included) playing D&D. Of them, 4 men and 2 women play 40k. It's a rough existence, but we're managing alright

4 men and 2 women play 40k.

This is a good ratio. We have N men and 0 women.

For N sufficiently large, that's no good.

Well, N is sufficiently large, but remained constant over the last years.

Well, humour, not sure if I can laugh. Sometimes, players can become rough. One inch more or less can be a big issue, lol.
