First post!
Hello all!
Over the years my general interest was in Warhammer 40,000. In my time i've had Dark Eldar, Ork, Tau, Tyrannid AND Chaos armies but due to moving all the way to Finland, I had to let my Tzeentch lads go.
That said, I miss the hobby and need something to get me off the computer.
So I figured when I had a bit of money I could make a sort of "project" out of Gorkamorka.
Using the newer Orks, customising Gorkamorka units must be so much more fun these days.
The only gripe with my idea is that I dwell in Finland yet don't know the lingo (and it's a complex lingo!). Though fortunately there is a
GW Store in Helsinki (and a non-
GW hobby store which also has frequent game nights).
So playing against others looks unlikely for the time being.
But after playing some Bloodbowl against myself a few times (it's amazing what a few makeshift players and dice will do), I found that although I clearly KNEW what the opponents tactic was going to be (because i'm my own enemy
), the random factor of dice rolls still left the game to a good degree of chance. One minute the ball could be in one half looking like a Touch Down, the next, it's in the other half!
And from scanning the rulebook, there is mucho more fun to be had with the random results of a Gorkamorka game.
So i'm not totally insane for opting to play myself am I?
I'm fairly sure the fun would be still there, and at least i'd always have someone to play against ;D.
NOTE: The "project" side of things would be if I have the time to "take it to the next level" and say, build each mob their own fort. Over time i'd have a few mobs and a few forts. Clearly i'd want to refresh the mobs every once in a while (boyz can only lose
so many arms before admitting defeat) and no doubt some mobs might even get wiped out eventually, so their deserted fort could then be used in another game as a capture objective of some new mobs!
I guess that's the beauty of the game that it allows for this sort of thing.
Now, how was THAT for a perculiar first post?
I tend to write a lot, it's a habit :<
