Hi, I'm Johny and I've just got back into 40K after a 12 year absence. My poor body has reached the age where it can't take all night partying anymore and I needed a hobby! By chance I passed the GW in Dundee and decided to pick up a wee box of Space Marines and some paints to see if I enjoyed it. Now I've got a load to paint!

Hope to speak to some of you on the boards soon, I have a lot of catching up to do from 40K 2nd Edition!

Hi there. As you might have noticed, the state of 40K is in a bit of a muddle, so if you have anything to contribute that might improve the game for the rest of us, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm a fellow ex-party monster who had to settle down, I even had to cut out caffeine, which really sucked.

Yeh Dundee Scotland, don't know why the US flag is there, something to do with the way my ISP routes traffic.

Thanks

Woah, that sucks. I'd be lost without my coffee!

I have noticed a few races crop up that I would never have imagined fitting into the 40K universe back in the day. One of the reasons I stopped was that everything seemed to go from dark and gothic to a bit cartoonish, which I hope has changed.

There's a blast from the past! I remember RP Games well, it was like the Tardis in there. It sold everything! I remember the huge model from Aliens they had in the window too.

Because they are easy to use to get back into 40K and really quite forgiving. Plus the story arcs behind them are fascinating. Squigs though, thats some models I never thought I would hear of again!

Johny, welcome to DakkaDakka.
Before you paint the army, think about a chapter. Salamanders, Crimson Fists, Raven Guard are rather strong. My favorite would be Salamanders.

Already on the case, going for Imperial Fists because I always liked the old colour scheme for them back in the day (dirty yellow) but there was no real information on them. Although they may be old hat for you guys they are really nostalgic for me, lol! Salamanders though, the last time I saw a painted Salamander was in old Rouge Trader books!
