herald, prince, whatever
all in all ive seen everyone making nurgle daemons recently so i thought i'd try my hand at it, ive allways used GS for bits ad bobs (new shoulder, some fur, covering damage) but now ive decded to GS whole model.
base model being a basic ogre since it gives me a nice size and bulk.
no idea how it will turn out, or if ill run out of GS yet, but here goes:

ok, thats a rough base for today, got the classic spine hanging out and the nurgle-sign-pus-things on its shoulder.
ill get more done tomorrow once this has dried (i have unsteady hands and would end up a: slipping and scraping it or B: dropping it)

Edit: forgot to add:
weapons will be a nice sized sword (buster sword style) and need ideas on the 2nd hand.

just something i wanted to check, been told a model needs to be 75% GW stuff to be legal, does GS count towards this?

GS work is more than counted for this.

Very nice work so far. Nurgle really lends itself as a sculpting testbed. Even if you DO mess up, it'll hardly be noticed! ^_^

So far so good.

Well, of course that depends on whether you're using GW brand greenstuff....

Naw, greenstuffery definitely counts as good-to-tournament-go.

edit: forgot to add, great start. The spine/split looks very vivid.

needed a big imposing sword, so it will be the buster, with a few nurgle bits added.

just placed an order on ebay for more GS and fell into papa nurgles trap, ordered the daemons dex too, so chances are im now collecting nurgle daemons aswell.

Yum. I'm pretty wobbly with green stuff myself but then I'ce hardly used it. It's always fun though. I'm sure I've got some around here somewhere...

As for swords/arms-a combination of the two? A putrid stump with an ebedded blade is likely to give those female plaguebearers the horn. Plus it looks quite piratical.

(Note: pirates are completely irrelevant to this thread. I just like the idea of a Great Unclean one with a pirates hat and a mangy crow on his shoulder. Arrr!)

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

mag, i was tempted to buy a GUO and GS him to make him look like big ol' fat santa ready for xmas

as for arms, this one i want to keep with 2 arms and hands
if all goes well then ill be making a 2nd and 3rd.

ok, got some more done now, not much, but its all my GS permits as it has run out, but i should have more turning up either wednesday or thursday.
got the classic open stomach complete with falling out guts. gave him a nice fat stomach and a pair of moobs, and just filled in some gaps.

needs more guts added.
once i get more GS ill ge those done, then start on his legs.
as for weapons im thinking of a busta sword and some form of itestine whip or a flail.

London.

Here's a tip for your troubles.

I pimped a vindicator recently (substitute Tim Westwood for Nurgle). I wanted some pronounced boils, the massive ones that are one finger away from bursting. I knew they'd be tough to sculpt off the mark, so here's what I did...

1. Go to charity shop. Help The Aged/Oxfam/whatever. For some reason these shops always have a display of incredibly tacky jewellery.
2. Get a pearl necklace. No, not that kind. I got a decent size one for 99p. (This sentence doesn't get easier, does it?)
3. Try not to look like a ladyboy at the till.
4. At home, push them into the green stuff and then shape it up around the sides.

It works, and is much less hassle. Also a quick way to cover a surface (and again)

I'm starting to sound like a bad Carry On film. Just an idea in case you wanted to vary the skin texture.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

By the way, your ogre model looks like he sat on a plate of toast. And now he's got a pretty harsh infection too.

allready got a load of GS balls drying
made em up today ready to do that.
and he was a mates ogre, but he has 20k in points and that one was spare, so i chauced it and chopped of the 2 knives on his ass.

I wouldn't let the overdetailing get away from you. Personally I'd work in some more 'smooth rotting skin' areas to help vary up the model and actually add real detail that will take paint a bit better. The current areas look great, but they would all start to jumble together if the entire model is covered that way.

you might also think about putting some armor plating in here and there. Different elements put together = better results ^_^.

Also, are you working off of a sketch or just going with the flow? Having something to help guide your work is definitely a plus when you're first getting started.

thats what ive just started thinking after looking at a GUO or 2.
it will end up being over-crowded

armour plates will possibly be on a shoulder, leg plate, unsure as of yet, but there will be some.

just a mental image so to speak, thoght up a rough idea of how and what it should look like, then just started.
only thing im now unsure of is 1 eye or 2.

I like it man, although it will come across much more clearly when you are done painting him (and the little devil has arms too). Looking forward to the finished product, JD.
