Don't recall any topics like this, but I figured I'd bring it up.

First, I saw this guy play live yesterday. Oystaan Baadsvik. Considered by most to be the worlds best Tuba player.

If you don't play a wind instrument, just understand that that sort of shenanigans is....supremely difficult to coordinate that well. Also, great guy, we took him out to a bar after the show.

My other personal favorite( being a T-bone meself) are these guys. Bonerama

(not the best recording but awesome nonetheless)

I've met the lead guy a few times before, he plays with a condenser mike on his horn with a guitar effects board.

So, what does the rest of Dakka listen too? Inquiring mind(s) are curious!

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

Sin City...fun place to visit...sucks to live here!

I listen to just about everything...grew up listening to a mix of Acid Rock and old style Country-Western (it was the 70's and Dad was in the Military). I got into Metal when I was 14....Iron Maiden album covers and Judas Priest! Discovered Metallica and Thrash metal about a year later...I'm a huge Doors fan also.

So I listen to everything from Old Blues (John Lee Hooker, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters etc) to Metal/Alt Rock/Nu Metal and when I get homesick Country (I'm from Texas it's kind of mandatory).

I actually used to be a DJ way back and played alot of New Wave/Dark Wave/Punk then.

I'm the first and only musician of my family. Never listened to music until high school(thanks to video games). Had an awesome band director with good professional connections and got turned on to all sorts of things. I been playing in jazz groups, orchestras, wind ensembles, marching bands, etc. for years. But I love the trombone for it's versatility. Anything anyone else can do, I can do too, if not even more awesome out of irony.

little background: my father is professor of mediaeval (note, this is older english correct spelling) music... Anyway, i'm personally into romantic period music (IE, beethoven etc) and jazz. I play and own my own tenor saxophone, albeit it's in the shop right now (bloody postage company... grumble grumble...) and I also like earlier rock'n roll stuff (ACDC, sex pistols, etc...) willing to listen to just about anything, as long as it's not country. I'm a big fan of the blues brothers, too.

I was raised on Metal. When other kids my age were learning the words to nursery rhymes, I was learning Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. I was a member of the KISS army for ten years, had a 4'x6' poster of them on my wall. That all changed when I first heard Metallica, Master of Puppets. I discovered death metal in the mid 90's and ever since then my musical tastes have gotten steadily darker. Now my favorite bands are Nile, Dimmu Borgir, Debauchery, Warbringer and Arch Enemy. The only one of those I've seen live is Arch Enemy but I've got tix to see Dimmu on halloween. Anything grim, brutal with apocalyptic themes or a strong H.P. Lovecraft base is good, especially when painting.

A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!

Tool is the greatest band ever in existanse. Alice in Chains is another big one for me, also White ZOmbie, Metallica, TAD, Pantera, Rammstein, The Melvins and alot more.

Metal and Grunge in general.
