Since my concept minis have turned out pretty good I've decided to go ahead and create the whole gang. A few notes first, Gang will be called Violet's Vixens and i plan to use a color theme with the naming. Main colors will be purple torso, blue tights and black boots and gloves, Jewelery will be gold. Hair and make up will be themed to that particular member's name. With that out of the way here are my first two minis, painting still a WIP.

Emmy and Skye

Emmy (Emerald for my theme)

Skye - Note this was my test mini and I used a WE head not a daemonette, will likely not use any more WE heads but the model looks ok to keep

Next WIP Ganger was trying for a more dynamic pose here which worked well enough to keep!

And finally a group shot with the heavy I had finished already

Comments, questions and critcism welcome! Hope to have regular updates.

Great to see even more necro/=I=munda logs on here!

The conversions are very nice and well thought out, the posing on the first two in particular is very natural. Not sure about the most recent "dynamic" one though. The new daemonettes require LOTS of work to make dynamic, not really sure what other races you could plunder for good female plastic parts though, eldar/DE?

At the moment she kind of looks like shes swinging round a lamp post. The problem is she has both legs quite far behind her body. When people are running with as much of a forward lean as she is (and in general) they always have one leg at least directly beneath their chest when one foot is planted on the ground. Otherwise you would stumble on your next stride.

The best example I can find is this picture of me when I played American Football:

Obviously my torso is upright (crossing into the endzone, woo!) but my legs are just completing one stride and about to begin the next (left foot just leaving the ground, right foot about to land).

At the moment your mini has the same left leg position as I had in the pic but the right leg is planted already and behind the torso. This is why the deamonettes are tough to make dynamic because you pretty much have to butcher the whole legs off and then do alot of resculpting.

Lovely start though and great idea for parts. Look forward to more!

Cheers,

Dante

Nice start, apart from the fumbling pose as highlighted by Dante.

Looking forward to following this.

My two cents.....

A quick cut at the elbow, twisting and re attatching it to be facing more towards where the model is looking would give it more of a diving whilst firing pose.
She currently looks like she is tripping over.

Nice work, keep it up.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I've repositioned the model to be more upright and fixed the right arm. I'm finding I know a pose is wrong but have trouble seeing what to do to fix it so this feedback really helps!

Well to update after a long absence, I've finished the gang. Between trying to figure out how to do something different with each pose and getting frustrated with the Daemonette body (its a biatch to work with ) with my limited sculpting skills and my foot surgery its taken a while. Painting isn't really that good (morphine is amazing for doing rank and file, bad for detail work though) but not bad enough that I really feel like going back and redoing them at this point. Anyways, On to the pics!

Comments and criticism welcome as always. I learned a lot doing this project and I'd like to challenge anyone who reads this to try something that pushes the edge of what you are currently able to do. You'll learn a lot more that way and if you're lucky you might even end up with some nice looking minis!

These came out great, glad to see that you managed to make something unique (and different) with the daemonette bodies. That couldn´t have been easy, but grats on pulling it off.

With my Necromunda gang, I´ve been doing what you´re also talking about, stretching what you think you can do.

For me it´s been about teaching myself new painting techniques, and getting better at GS work. So I totally agree on that part.

I still think your "running" gal needs to have her knee flexed a bit.. Notice in Dante's pic that the trailing leg is slightly flexed, but that the leading leg is also flexed.

your pose makes it look as if she's in the process of running up something, not that that's a bad thing, mind you, just a bit akward.

Thanks for the kind words all! As far as altering a pose they are pretty much done. Am I super happy with the way a few of them came out? No, but I think I've learned enough to get closer should I decide to make more (with not being able to stand long enough to play in our store league for another 5 weeks I likely won't add more though).

As for Violet's Gun, its a Combat shotgun made from a lasgun with the tip cut off, a boltgun handgrip and the center section of a multimelta ammo tube for a drum magazine.
