Been in 40K for 15 years, my figs got stolen last month (funny how that army transport case can be perceived as a laptop bag at night...).

So, I m thinking about moving on to WHFB, and I like chaos warriors. Now, I don t like marauder and such (too much skin) but I love plate armor. I thinking of building a list for tourny play at 2,000 pts, mainly around plated warrior and cavalry. I m attracted to Khorne for the color theme, but I m not close to other god, except Nurgle, I don t like dirty look. I also like Tzeentch. Now, Khorne and Tzeetch don t go along too well... So, I would like a fluffy list with a mix of Khorne and Tzeetch (if this is possible...).

Here is what I have in mind (I chose the model because I would love to paint them ).

Please help me turn this list into a competitive and fun to pain (for me at least) list

I hate to say it, but it is horrible :(

Large knight units are not great (especially when frenzied) and large warrior units are for several good reasons considered horrible.

If you want to avoid all things marauder (which by the way, and considered the best things in the book, cheapness and expendibility are really good elements in warhammer) then perhaps look at shrinking down your unit sizes and going for a more of a MSU approach. Basically, paying 80 points a rank for warriors is completely nonsensical, when you can get 30 point ranks with marauders...

you only have 2 CORE units.

large warrior units arent too bad, but they arent going to win every game for you, or even most. At the very least they can keep you from losing but not if you have 2 huge 6oo point units. And dogs arent minimum core. If youre just starting i suggest using maruder horses for most, if not all your core, but you dont like the models (niether do i). So just be prepared for a sharp learning curve while you figure out how you want to work the warriors into the fight.

The problem with multiple large hammer units without any real support, is that your opponent only has to dedicated a few units to occupy your big blocks as the rest of their army gets into position to hit you where it hurts. Hounds can only do so much and when more then 12" away from you general a few arrows is all it takes to get rid of them.

Drop the warriors to 6x2 (consider halberds), split the knights into 2 units of 5 w/out champ, drop a hound unit and pick up a HW/S marauder block. Also grab a wizard (or 2) with 2 dispel scrolls and stick a MR gift/item on your lord.
