WIP of my first Tyranid-themed objective marker. It'll be a access vent to the undercity that the Tyranids are trying to defend/capture. Could also be used as tunnel marker for Apocalypse.

It's made out of a pill bottle (being old, we have lots of these around) and some straws. The full bottle is shown on the left, the WIP is to the right. I scored the top and then used a pair of pliers to pull the corners up. It'll have a genestealer arm coming out from the inside. Hopefully it will look like the genestealers have infiltrated and are trying to break out through the vents.

Step 2. Primed black, drybrushed with Tin Bitz and VMC Gunmetal, and then washed with Paynes Grey (naturally). Another light drybrush of VMC Gunmetal and VMC Silver for highlights. The genestealer arm is my typical Tyranid pattern.

The industrial stripe is made out of a piece of wine foil. I laid down a piece of hobby tape on the backside and used it as a guide to cut it out. I glued it onto the vent and then painted the stripes. In hindsight, I should have painted the stripes first and then glued the strip to the vent. Oh well.

Next steps, some small details, rust, etc. Need to figure out what position I want the hand and then probably will add some drops of acid (when I figure out how to do that)

Very nice. I like objective markers that are not little dinky-can-barely-be-seen-yet-control-the-outcome-of the-battle tokens.

Don't do them bigger than that though or you might end up with a Mario tabletop.

Not quite finished yet. Need to finish the base, add some rust, and maybe some green goo to look like acid

Probably a couple different ways.. neon green dye via food coloring etc. into either: Water Effects stuff you can get from hobby stores or into some watered down PVA glue applied in layers, maybe. I know it dries fairly clear without added dye, not sure what that would do to the color.

Finished with a little bit of rust, basing, and glued the hand into its final location
