im guessing im wrong but i thought he was dead. as in a few years ago a GW employee told me that fluff wise he died. but ive been seeing here and there eldar players including him. is this one of those, yea hes dead but i can play him if people allow it? or was that GW employee just a fruit bag?

This is dangerously close to a rules question...

Eldrad is a legal special character that is available to all eldar players using the current codex.

As far as his living/dead status.

He is definitely not "Michael Bay" dead. More like Spock dead. My memory is a bit patchy, but essentially, he flung himself into some sort of void. And the final comments about his survival were something along the lines of. "It would take a psyker of incredible power to be able to survive the forces he was exposed to. There isn't any way he could have survived... is there?"

Think Gandalf and the Balrog and you won't be too far off.

Please check out my current project blog

Eldar Codex talks about Eldrad in the past tense, as he was supposed to have died during the Eye of Terror campaign.

However;

1. 40K let's you play with "historical" characters as you can be setting a game in a different time period and;

2. As implied by Shep, he's more than likely still alive, because he was a double hard bastard Eldar pysker.

whiel they are right baout playing in differnt times.

the other thing is that his soulstones whih he left on the craftworld went black which means his soul has been gobbled by sllaanesh

or so peopel were nattering last ngiht at gw

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

i think the fluff i read was something like he was repairing a fortress of vaul by like communicating with its soul, but the fortress was possessed by slaanesh so he was eaten.

Well up until the latest SM Codex, Captain Lysander of the Imperial Fists was dead....but hey, he's back and badder than Jack Bauer with an Auto-Cannon......so who knows what the GW gods have in mind?

Man down, Man down....

Didn't he break his soul stone into shards and give bits to other Ulthwe warlocks to carry (like a cross between a blackberry and a lucky rabbits foot*) during the EoT campaign ?

* not lucky for the rabbits, who get their feet amputated.

I think in the next incarnation of the Codex he will be dead but replaced by something even more ridiculous.

And a question in the same vein, didn't Abbadon die as well? He will probably come back as a Daemon Prince with all kinds of power.

Woah, Abaddon died? When, I thought he just got done attacking Cadia the last we heard from him.

Abaddon is alive and the battles on Cadia are still going on.

And Eldrad died shortly before GW froze the timeline. Hence no big impact.

wow cool your first post was on my thread! hurray for me. im curious when the non immortal IC are going to die from age or just in battle. and what will happen then. i know for a FACT Orks dont live forever. when exactly will thraka die from age? same with yarrick while on the subject. he really IS one tough old man. holy crap if I were like 140 and got my ass beat by a massive warboss, im sure my paper skin would tear and the dust would pour from my wounds

There are probably some super Grim Dark medications Yarrick is taking to stay as alive as someone at the peek of half his age.

As for Thraka he is never going away. Once you get a wash named after you, you become immortal. Thraka green baby, all the way.

solar macharius died of old age... its quit cleary stated in the background and also he has tanks named after him so who is more badass?

So Captain Kirk becomes Lord General Solar Macharius ? Where is he during TNG ? Hiding out in DS9 or stowing away on Corporal Janeways' little tub ? I think we should be told.
