Hey, it's your favorite lurker!

Well, it's time for me to get back to my painting. And I figured you all yelling at me to post more would get me off my butt and actually get something done.

So, a little story: Started playing 40k a year ago. Started playing with space marines. Liked them. Heard about a local tourney. Decided to field an entirely different army for the tourney. So I assembled and half painted 1750 point of Nurgle Daemons in a month. Did pretty well at the Tourney, placed 5th of 20, so not bad for my first time.

Decided I wanted to get back into marines with the new codex and also decided I no longer liked my color scheme.

So, now I've picked my new color scheme and will unveil it to you soon, I promise. But I need a name for my chapter. They are an Imperial Fist Successor Chapter. Main Colors are Midnight Blue and Bleached Bone. And I want your help to name them.

Now, after all that build-up, the first model: The Vindicator!

/insert beautiful pic here

Alright, you got me, there's no pic. But there will be by the end of the night, as soon as my camera finishes charging.

So, in the meantime, look at the poor photograph of my dreadnought in my old color scheme!

While waiting for you to slap some paint on the vindy couple of comments on your other figs.

All of the models could use some stronger highlights on them, they seem really flat at the moment. The nurgle prince for example seems to have a clean and sharp paint job on, but lacks the impression of depth.

The worn paint job on the dread would look really striking with some dark brown lining of the bare metal areas. The copper areas are also lacking definition, some brown washes to emphasize shadows with highlights then added to get more defined light spots.

The painting is clean and sharp so you have the brush control now these are just improvement suggestions to get you on the way to better painting.

@ Metsuri: Yes, totally agree that my models need highlighting, especially those ones.

When I was working on my Nurgle army I tried doing some highlighting by using lots of washes and lots of drybrushing so here's a squad of plaguebearers that I did.

You'll have to forgive me for not doing the bases properly, I was in a time crunch to get them ready for tournament and haven't got back to them yet

Update on the Vindicator: I've got most of the major components assembled to be primed, just working on the siege shield at the moment

Well, the interior of the Vindicator is done, and I'm going to glue the top on so I can paint the outside.

Here's some shots:

Please ignore the weird purple glow on the door, it's a product of the camera flash.

I don't get why people paint the interiors of Vindicators and Predators...

because they want a complete model?

nice work so far. mix some white in with the green and make a cross design on the tactical screen to make it like a targetting array or something.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Sorry for the delay in posting, it's been a couple of friggin' busy days for me. As a theatre tech, you can imagine that Christmas-time is. well, insane.

Anyways here's a pic of my progress so far

What I've done at this point is coated the entire model (barring the secondary color areas) with a fairly liberal coating of Azurmen blue to start the shading process and allow me to see the details better for painting.

Next: Very thin coat of Midnight Blue

Alright, here we go, a full (very thin) coat of Midnight Blue.

I'm hoping that a few layers of thinned paint should give an even coat without obscuring detail

Next: Second coat of Midnight Blue

wait wait wait wait... huh..?

That dreadnought is either very bright... or I am very tired... in case its the latter... my advice is to ignore this comment and forgive someone who is commenting when he shouldn't be.

I still think it's too bright... sorry

wait wait wait wait... huh..?

Please forgive the last comment, one of the voices inside my head just got back from a party and had wayyyy too much to drink.

The dread is not too bright, it looks fantastic. And your right about evening the coat on the rhino, but it doesn't need too much work to be good

again, sorry

Haha. Yay Beer!

Thanks for the comments, you're right about the dreadnought though, but that's more bad picture taking than anything.

Liking the bashed up dread. It looks way more "real" than the fancy parade ground dreads we so often see.

I can imagine that dread taking on a horde of orks and pulping them.

Your new scheme looks cool as well, but I´d like to see it on some marines also, since it looks like it may be better for vehicles than it is for infantry.

Back on the path of the Imperial Citizen

Still rolling ones...

I'm looking forward to sticking it on some marines as well. Keep in mind that the secondary color is not going to be brown, but bleached bone.

Gotta go to work now but will post pics tonight!
