I've always wanted to paint ultramarines, but never had a good twist for them. Since they fight the tau often I was thinking a renegade band of ultramarines. I could use the standard models for all of the basic chaos marines. Then use various tau weapons as slaanesh noise marines. And use modified stealth suits for terminators. I was thinking of having them be either straight up renegade, OR, go the chaos slaanesh mutated route. What do you guys think of the idea? What do you think, renegade or mutated?

What rules are using? if marines or chaos marines you could have blue marines:

*Chaos marine chapter (insert name here) with ultramarine colors

*Loyalist marine chapter (insert name here) or even a special company. This company uses verbotten xenos tech-either due to corruption from the xenos or potential linkage with Ordos Xenos.

I was thinking about using the CSM rules. The marines would be actual ultramarines (modeled and painted) but would feature tau weaponry. Instead of a "Evil" chaos army they would more be like renegades shunned by the imperium.

i like the shunned idea. Me thinks its gunna work just fine!
