I am experimenting with different builds that are not the norm or oddball. Some of these lists are going to have huge weakness. Any advice to minimize the weaknesses and other suggestions would be appreciated.

Tactics: One Big Block of Longbeards with two "detachments" of Slayers on its flank. The Block is going to have Grudgebearer and the [warhammertag13]BSB[/warhammertag13] in it. The Block is going to be 10 by 4. The crossbowmen are for long range support and to help protect the Grudge throwers. The grudgethrowers are meant to help soften up the enemy.

The Longbeards are going to be Stubborn, Hatred, Immune to Fear, Terror & Panic, 5+ Ward Save to Shooting & Magic Missiles, a unit strength of 68 and [warhammertag93]MR[/warhammertag93] of 1.

The idea is to get stuck in and grind down the eneny. the slayers are to protect the flanks and to hit flanks.

Thoughts, Ideas, Ridicule, Mocking?

You're really going to suffer from any kind of light cav / skirmishers that get around the edges and threaten you. I really think you need an OG or something to tie up a flank for you, then you can tie the other with a board edge.

Also, I wouldn't charge that block if my life depended on it. I'd ignore it, and kill everything else. Maybe a Thane with a MRoC or something to force them in.

One of my ideas was to drop the slayers and one of the grudge throwers and take a couple of units of DOW Light Cavalry

Unfortunately your list is illegal... Thane can't have runic armor and a runic battle standard. You can only take one unit of slayers unless you take a slayer character.

As for the actual concept... Well the slayers are too small to slow anyone down for long. Too many points in the longbeards and characters. Dwarves are slow so a good opponent will feed this unit something cheap to chew on while winning by killing the rest of your army.

Swoop!

It was a quick and dirty list and not very well thought out. I am trying to think outside of the Anvil/Gunline Box.

Your major problem will be: Dwarfs have not much fast attack stuff.
You will suffer from the moment you´re trying to not go with a heavy core and warmashines to back you up - at least my experience vs Dwarfs. Never played them because I dont like the army concept but if you´re able to get another list up or at least trying to do good luck and success with it. :=)

You see the morbid horror flicker in my eyes But rest assured, Im gonna help to ease your pain.
I'm gonna put a thousand tiny implants in your brain
I'm your boy, I'll make you undulate with joy

I would suggest trimming your Longbeards down(no pun here) to about 20 or so, dropping the Grudge thrower and combining your 2 units of slayers.(since you'd have to anyway)

With the extra points I'd add in a unit of Ironbreakers or hammerers. This way your opponent would have more to think about than just your huge uber longbeards unit. This will also keep you away from the gunline your trying to break from.

If you've got the points after all is said and done, I would suggest a Gyrocopter so you can help decide which combats your going to take and when you take them.
