I'm getting back into 40K after a 5 year hiatus, and I thought I'd drag out the Baneblade model that I've shelved and give it a go. It's ultimate destination will be in my Ork army as a Skullhammer or some other sort of Zoggin' 'Uge Orky Tank.

I did my research and came up with a few ideas that I hope to implement. The first was the problem with the treads. As we all know full well, the tank has some very distinctive Imperial iconography, so I thought I'd begin by adding some of my own "Orkonography" in its stead.

I apologize for the horrible iPhone pictures. When I have access to a proper camera I'll show you what they look like.

Next: I'll finish the right side and finish up the left. Then, we'll see what else I can add to the model. Please tell me what you think!

First I started with the treads and sanded down the detail.

Next I went about Orkifying up the details using plasticard.

You're crazy. In a good way. I think. It looks great, that's for sure

On a totally unrelated note: you have way too much spare time!

I love the detail! If you're putting that much effort into the treads, I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the beast.

Okay, so I promised that I would post more pictures of the tracks as soon as I had a better camera. As you can see, all the individual track details have been removed, and I've gone ahead and replaced them all with something a little Orkier. I understand that, being the bottom of the model, most this detail will be lost during a normal game, but I appreciate that a closer inspection will reveal the level of craftsmanship it took to finish these details.

Some detailed looks:

Total hours on tracks: 6 hours of sanding, shaving, cutting and gluing. I wish I could somehow mold these so I can mass produce should I so choose.

Next: Assemble the rest!

I have my Baneblade chassis and a Leman Russ chassis that I'll donate to the Skullhammer. I'm currently waiting on some plasticard and maybe a model purchase or two before I'm going to continue this. Thanks to all who have posted. Please keep watching this thread!

That's awesome though. If you put that much attention to detail in your Skullhamma its gong to truly be amazing!

So, a little bit of a preview for my WIP Skullhammer. As you can see, yet another one of my famous cell phone pictures. I promise to get some better photos when my camera arrives this weekend.

As you might be able to see, I have most of the super structure built already. I'm now trying to decide how to detail the model. I've worked up the right side the most. (Stage right, not photo right.) I bought a Trukk model and I've used it solely for bitz so far. I think I might not have very much Trukk left for a Trukk, but it was worth it. I have many more details to add, including MORE KREW. My next few steps are an exhaust system for the rebuilt engine, a Grot Rokkit Launcha, bitz and banging up.

Does anyone have pictures of grot crew made from existing models? I'm a little out of ideas right now.

I am not sure what the leman russ stuck on the back is supposed to be, or if it is just there for scale?

If it supposed to part of the model....I'd suggest making it look less like someone stuck a russ on the back of your baneblade kit.

Again great job on the tracks, but the level of detail on them doesn't jive with the relative lack of detail (from what I can see) on the rest so far, especially the deffrolla.
