Cannons go after chariots and war machines first while focusing on cav and troops later. The master engineer stays with cannon 2.

2496 total points and i would like to know what people think, is it competitive and if not how can i make it more competitive

why are your thunderer units so big? they don't need full command either and would work better if you split them into units of 12 or so and added another couple of war machines (Bolt throwers are nice!)

I have found a lot of success with thunderers before (and when i started fantasy i got a ton of them for my birthday)

I can agree with dropping some thunderers though, possibly adding another squad of warriors or a squad of quarrelers.

I can also understand that you may not need the full command with thunderers but i find it nice to have when they inevitably get charged by something (i find it usually ends up being some sort of cavalry).

If i were to remove some thunderers i think i would drop the group sizes and run 2 groups of either 14 or 16 and i could see dropping the command if i do add some more warriors or quarrelers.

I could also add an organ gun or 2 though i do find them to be unreliable at times.

I'll have to write up a new list and post it some time later

bolt throwers are the most reliable war machine, you could run 3 units of 12 or so and still shoot a heck of a lot. Why longbeards and not hammerers? 1 point cheaper even with shields and their stubborn!

I like the longbeard for the old grumblers rule, Even though i find that my dwarves don't break often and that i don't end up needing to take moral checks often i like having the ability to retake the roll if i fail

Personally, I don't like giving my warriors great weapons, it just seems like a waste of points to me. That and I never end up using them anyways on models that have them because I like armor saves too much. I also agree that some bolt throwers are always a good decision (much like Sam Adams). A Rune of Penetrating and a Flaming Rune would be good for those odd encounters where you need to take out that chariot or do some extra wounds to something flammable.

well, chariots are dealt with by a single hit of the cannon, it auto kills them.

Second, the rune of flaming=rune of burning (its how its written in the book) and i agree it is an excellent way to take out flammable units
