Subject: We've all heard of the deathworlds such as Catachan, but what about the wildlife inhabiting them?

All i've found on this topic is an old page on the GW site detailing stats for a handful of random creatures, including plants. Does anyone know of any sources for more creatures, like about 20 or so? I'm looking at using indigenous(sp?) wildlife for my next campaign, more info in the link in my sig. No stat-lines needed, I just need some inspiration. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tips. Thing is, I just used Catachan as an example of a deathworld, i'm probably gonna make my own for the campaign. It's probably not gonna have such dense vegetation, in case I need to make a board. (See my sig if you're confused) Lexicanum says that the devils have been introduced to other worlds, so I can use them.
After looking up some worlds, Cretacia and Davin look like good settings for my campaign.

Hmm... we can come up with a few cool rain forest type of stuff here.
- killer vines : incredibly long, seem to have functioning brain somewhere rofl , thorns.
-giant venus traps
- acid pools : underground plant with giant flesh dissolving enzymes waiting for animals to fell into.
- lots of over sized reptilian looking aliens
- giant fungus with poisonous spores

Crap, and I was looking at Davin (desert planet). Maybe it could be a multi-planet campaign, but that would probably take twice as long to make, and this is going to take at least a month to make as is. If I use Cretacia, I will use some of your ideas. I got a few more ideas:
The classic giant sandworm. Probably only used as bosses.
Herds of 'horned beasts' were mentioned in Davin's lore.
Hordes of primitive humans. You could be outflanked easily due to having only a small squad of 3-8 characters.
Plaguebearers and Great Unclean Ones, because the moon is said to be influenced by Nurgle.

I love giant worm idea the most.
easier to model, impressive to look at when done
( maybe the size is massive too! )
Like Dune spice worms!

...wtf at that pic...
BTW, no models needed. Homebrew D20, I can use empty bases if I want. Besides, I am fail when it comes to green stuff and I don't have easy access to other materials. Most of this is in preliminary phase until next week when I go to the city and can buy some DnD sourcebooks and all those weird dice.

Tyranids are great for use in a campaign like this. Fluff-wise, Catachan devils are genetically related to genestealers, and were an altered strain left behind after a hive fleet or something.
But yeah - you can use Tyranids and call them giant bugs. =p

i thought the evolution connection between devils and nids was unknown?
i got an old copy of WD floating about with a creature feature in it, simply has 15 or so examples (megasaurs, devils, devilspawn, croctalids, barking toads ect ect)
and also a chapter approved on how to create rules for them using a system they have worked up

Not 100% sure if my memory is right on that issue of WD JD.
But i think the fluff went like, after planet's biomass has been stripped, some rippers are left behind and not converted into the material pool itself . Hibernated till the planet regrew / and proceeded to evolve along into the ripper ( reaper? forgot the spellign xD ) strains we see.

Sounds like win. I'll include it if I make a catachan or cretacia campaign, but right now its gonna be Davin. I'm planning on borrowing my friend's DnD books to read up on background and look at the pretty pictures to stimulate my creative juices.

Excellent example.
Also, just think: Australian outback, Amazon jungle, Vietnam jungle, insects from Jackson's King Kong, prehistoric earth (for insect life and earlier mammals), and bugs, lots of bugs. Shortfaced bears, sabretoothed tigers, yeti, 2 ft. long spiders, 40 ft snakes, 6 ft underwater scorpions, lots of uber killy parasites, diseases, and fungi ( OT but they are actually working on a vaccine for malaria now-OMG!), used car salemen, and lawyers unfettered by any bounds of civilization...

The problem with King Kong is that the civilized humans last, for the most part, long enough to come back. If it were a real deathworld island they would probably all be dead within an hour of seeing the island, maybe earlier if a particularly upset Kraken happens by.
