So,as can be read at the bottom of my sig ,I have aquired a few plastic cadians (35 to be exact) and I'm debating with myself as to wich army to make.
Basicly I'm torn between doing

A) An urbanized IG(just the term I have come up with,more to reflect painting)
wich would consist of an appropriate comand
troops
lots of heavy wepons teams
sentinials(equipt for city fighting)
a few tanks (not sure wich)...this idea is still rough.

B) A Traitor guard force (based on the forgeworld renegade list/nurgle themed)
this would be a simaliar construct to the "urban guard"list,ie appropriate command,troops,HW teams,
etc,just modeled to represent a traitor faction utilizing various zombie bitz I have,along with some pigiron kolony rebel heads
and alot of GS.

Now,for the most part I know zip about IG,I've played against a few Guard armies,read a bit about them,but have never played them myself &
considering LATD rules are only playable for friendly games,and I'm still looking over renegade rules...I'm a bit undicided wich way to go.
From a modeling/painting aspect,I'd probly enjoy either,so no real help there in deciding.
I guess basicly I'm just wondering what others opinions are,and looking for a bit of insight that perhaps can help me with thechoice between the two.

Chaos Undivided !!

The possible conversions with chaos guard is insane I mean there are so many loyalist guard, that traitor guard always stands out. Just make sure to really go hog wild with the Icons/skulls/ect ect!

I prefer the look of Urban, that said... how about Urban Chaos? Originally OG west coast Guard, (throws up Guard signs). Glock, glock. I mean las, las. Heavy bolters will give a whole new meaning to the term 'ghetto blaster'.

Lol, actualy I'm thinking along the lines of semi-isolated,horribly deseased & dying IG who turn to Nurgle.
I want to truly convy a sort of foul,gritty,desperate feel in the minis.
I see alot of GS in my future.

I got some advice for ya, since you said you don't know much about Guard:
1. For urban armies, use Leman Russ Demolishers... they'll do you wonders. They're Demolisher cannon only goes 24", but it's Str10/Ap 2, with the large blast. But if your doing urban battles that shouldnt be a problem. Not to mention the options you can give them with their sponsons and hull mounted weapons. Along with that the Lumbering Behemoth rule (that allows them to move 6" and still fire ALL weapons, yes, even ORDIANCE weapons!)

2. Then you'll want a mix of flamers and Grenade launchers. The ability to ignore cover with your flamers will amount you you owning.

3. Maybe throw in some snipers in a Special Weapon squad to pin your opponent down as you advance.

Urban IG all the way from me because I see so many Field IG armies that it gets boring. People who paint theirs Green and Brown. It gets boring. That's why my army is red and black, camouflaged only at night in an abbatoir (or the Beano HQ). Also, there are so many cool conversions for Urban Guard, lots of extra equipment to be modelled etc.

GO FOR TRAITORS
Use blood pact (Guard with Khorne bits and masks)(See profile picture 4 my coverted pacter)
Or go 4 infardi (Use flagellent bodies with green robes, tatoos and swap the flails 4 lasguns)

BTW in case you hadnt guessed im a big fan of guants ghosts =)

Traitor guard.

No one does them at all. GW gives us fluff that Guardsmen are always leaving the Imperium and give us no legal ruleset for them.

If doing city fighting Guard, then some Hellhounds ( or variants ) are a good thematic choice. The Demolishers give heavy direct firesupport, the sentinels skulk around the rubble flushing out targets and the flame/chem tanks eliminate enemy stronpoints.

Hey guys,first I want to thank everyone for the feedback & to also let every one know that I'm definitely going with an "urbanized traitor guard" Nurgle themed.
I've started on the first small sqaud using a combination of Cadians,zombies & GS (pics coming soon).
I'll also be incorperating flagellent bits as well as some pig iron kolony rebel heads (as soon as I can get hold of them),as well as a few other ideas I have knocking about .
As I posted earlier,my idea is that this is/was an abandoned,semi isolated group of IG who have turned to Nurgle,I plan on having a few tanks,(perhaps a few sentinals..not sure),lots of heavy wepon teams/troops and thats about as far as I've gotten "build" wise.
Anyway thanks again for all the suggestions & feel free to keep them coming,and keep an eye on the P&M section as the first pics of this endeavour should be up soon.
