So my IG is a very slooow progress army for one thing, and one thing alone ! DKOK sums it up nicely.

But the question is would i be allowed to field them using the standard IG codex, say in future tournaments etc ?

Because i really cant afdord to cough up the cash for the rule books for them and its just cheaper and better for me to use the IG codex, (that is kind of contradictory to what i am aiming for but i love the DKOK too much to not make an army of them)

Im not really sure what your asking
Are you asking if it would be acceptable to use the previous ig codex in a tournament? in which case the answer would be no as its a previous edition codex and as such as not balenced for the 5th ed.
If your asking if you could play with no rulebook and only the new ig codex i suppose if you knew the rules nobody would complain.

I think he means the Imperial Armour books, which are 40 pounds each.

Yes, you'd be able to field them as standard Imperial Guard. In fact, you'd be LESS
likely to field them as Death Korps since FW books aren't official. Tourney organizers
have to okay Imperial Armour stuff for them to be used.

You know, you can make a DKoK list that follows the IG Codex, *and* the FW list, too.

DKoK are just another line of IG models. No one is going to get bent out of shape if you use them to represent a list with the current codex.

I would be suprised you are not finding the reverse situation more common, where people dont want you using your IA List and want you to use the normal rules.

I have an issue with the bolded part. Why was it that the old codex was OK and Balanced on the 1st of May but on the 2nd it's suddenly wrong and evil? Is my Space Wolf Codex now wrong and not balanced and therefore should not be allowed? What about all the 4th edition codex's out there? Shall we disallow them too and only let people play Daemons, SPESS MAHINZE and IG? Bit of a blanket statement you made there...

as long as you use ONLY the options in the IG codex then DKOK are good for tourniment play a guardsman with a lasrifle is still a guardsman with a las rifle whatever he is wearing just be sure to use codex guard stats and options and no one can find anything to knock you for .
