hello,
short and simple really. with all the special character hotness in the new IG codex are you planning on building them or buying them? i've notice that Marbo and Straken are hard to find on Feebay and pricey when you do. i'm thinking if i use them, i might just "make" them. what do you fine people think?

I've already made my own Marbo, Straken, and Officer of the Fleet, and a few bodyguards.


Just kitbash your own, should be much much cheaper

I would go with build forsure. Their is so many characters with so many backgrounds. I would write your own story for each one and just use there rules for your model.

1 question...which is possibly stupid and definativly off topic.....whats a master of the fleet? i keep hearing about this guy's greatness for some reason.

Building your own custom characters and having counts as is much more fun and makes your army unique.

Officer of the fleet is an upgrade option for the Company Command Squad that gives your opponent -1 to reserves rolls

I am going to buy all of the advisors (love their models), but plan on building the special characters (apart from Creed/Kell).

Al', Chenkov, and IronHand models are very army specific and would look out of place in mine. But using the new fancy command spures, it should be fun

I have the original Straken ( Oh yeah! The Man of Iron ). I´m really glad that i picked the model several years ago to be used as a Veteran Sergeant ( Talk about a rising star! Now he leads the whole fething Regiment. ) All the other new models/characters have been converted. Harker with combining Marine hands,head and Heavy Bolter to Catachan torso/legs. MoO and Fleet Officer from extra bitz from tank sprues ( officer caps, helmets etc. ). The Psyker Choir is still on my drawing board, since I haven´t decided what models to use as the baseline ( maybe FB Flagellant ).

Actually I have several Star Wars ones already from the Star Wars minis game. Scale is close enough to not be too noticeable on the tabletop. I'll probably use GM Tarkin as my Officer of the Fleet

Just made a MoO pretty easily from tank commander sprues. Probablycould to make a fleet officer from those too. I converted my body guards by giving them dual pistols.

I'm also working on a Harker with SM scout HB arms.

Personally I'm using the Baneblade commander as my MoO.

On a somewhat related note, how long until MoO is an offical Dakkacronym?

I'm guessing 3 weeks.

awww hell just make your own
all the self made ones for sly etc ive seen all look miles better than the gw ones anyway
and you have the satisfaction of saying "he's my own creation" allso you dont get someone elses compromises

I made a marbo and master of the fleet myself. I put em up on dakka too. (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/238775.page) It was fun and cheap and I enjoy kitbashing. Just buy a command squad and make your own.

i've got 3 ordered, just waiting on them to get here! combined with the Vehicle accessory sprue bits, there are alot of great possibilities. can't wait to start. i like how you used the Pig Iron heads. i'm almost done with my platoon of PI Cadians.

Ahh, good stuff. You know how to do it! Its always more rewarding when you convert a model and it comes out good. as opposed to buying the metal models, buying a kit also gets you cool extra bits to convert with, who doesnt love bits?
